No probs (just forget about the wombats here who can't read) ;)

Anyother questions just ask and if I can't give ya an answer then someone else (who knows the word, backup, plus it's meanin' and function unlike wombats previously mentioned) here will, though be patient as sometimes as much as 6hrs can pass before ya get an answer so just wait for an email for notification of a reply (I hope that ya enable it for ya threads).

the 2400xp is at 2000mhz but overclocks very nice got mine up to
2550mhz ran 3d mark but it crashed on sandra memory test i need new ram mine sucks i can run it 24/7 at 2481mhz and for the price you cant go wrong

JediAgent

So why do they call it a 2400 if its only 2000?

FLaCo
01-15-2003, 11:50 PM
Cuz it performs like a 2.4 on weekends...

JediAgent
01-16-2003, 01:19 AM
Than why pay full price if its only gonna perform as stated 2/7 days of the week?

... just remember - im new.

FLaCo

Thats not full price....:D

its amd coding its a 2400xp do to the fact it is just as fast as a pent 2.4 Amd chips can do more in one clock cycle then a pent can so amd does not have the hight mhz to do the same job

JediAgent
01-16-2003, 06:24 AM
:( But that's lying... they should call them what the speed is....

<H1>DOES THAT MEAN MY XP1700 ISNT REALLY 1.7GHZ LIKE THE GUY SAID! </H1>

FLaCo
01-16-2003, 07:52 AM
Its means during weekday the clock is lower due to stress at work and mountain fo paper work...can you imagine arraging all those 1's and 0's...???

Weekends you can count on it performing as a 2.4 even tho it is still a 2.0..especioally Saturday night were AMD can do that much more cuaz of the partying. Sunday morning is unknown due to the hang overs or how it feels that morning.

STILLLIFE

Sorry JediAgent a 1700xp is around 1.470mhz

The PR ratin' is used by AMD because where the Athlon/XP/MP (and even Duron for a fact) can execute up to 9 instructions per cycle (remember that there are 3 FPU's in the core) where as P4's can only carry out up to 6 instructions per cycle. :D

Know does that fill ya n00b mind?

<H6>Wiggo, i prolly should have notified you by IM earlier not to respond as im just playing...</H6>

AMD is said to be an 'Inferior" product compared to Intel... and ill the inferior people ive ever meet hang out in bars alot and can hold their liquor... so id give the Athlon 2.5/7 days of the week as the partying begins fri nite... ;)

Actually AMD has never officially compared the XP+ speed rating to Pentium 4 but to non-XP Athlon, which ran at the Mhz stated.

So XP1700+ is suppousedly as fast as original Athlon running 1700 Mhz would be ..

Personally I could not care less what they call it.

the thing is that an athlon xp 1800+ running at 1.53ghz(mine is running at 1.55ghz:P) will perform the same as a pentium 1.8ghz.....

JediAgent
02-07-2003, 02:43 PM
It'll actually perform the same as a P4 1.9 Northwood, but thats not why they call em what they call em. Just wait til hammer comes. You'll see 1.6+GHz parts being called 3400+'s and up.

"Instructions per cycle" is now the name of the game. :devil win

So is fsb and memory bandwith. An XP 2400+ performs equal to a P4 2,26 cpu wich get to use 100% of it's fsb due to fast memory.

We have tested most benchmarks there is and games like ut and other modern 3d games. I know there are other stuff as well, media encoding for example, but there i don't think it's to mutch difference between them.

This may sound strange but it's a fact.
Therefore i wonder if getting a 2.53 ghz would give me just as mutch performance as a XP2600+ or 2700+ for the same money if not less. :?:

This is just numbers but then again there isn't mutch other than that to use when comparing sytems is there?
