  • 2600+ vs 2700+?

Is it big difference in performance between theese two procs on a nforce2 mobo? :?:

I noticed the faster fsb and bigger cache on the 2700+ version.

    AMD Athlon XP 2600+ Thoroughbred 2130MHz/2.13GHz 256Kb 266MHz 0.13 bulk SocketA

    AMD Athlon XP 2700+ Thoroughbred 2170MHz/2.17GHz 384Kb 333MHz 0.13 bulk SocketA

No there's not a great deal of difference (except the price of course ;) ) but there is also a 266DDR XP2600+ as well. Also remember that it's quite likely that both will overclock to the same speed as the lower speed ones tend to go harder plus it's very easy to change the 266DDR Thoroughbred's into 333DDR ones very easily on that chipset. :devil win

Oh and they misprinted the cache sizes as both are the same and that won't change till Barton comes along.

I believe that production has started on these buggers but look to one of the major IT shows around March/April (if not before) for a launch (most likely March I think and April will then be the Athlon 64's turn).

Nothin' that I can grab atm but see what http://www.theinquirer.net/ or http://www.theregister.co.uk/ (google even) has to say as they're usually pretty close to the mark plus I've been a little busy of late so I don't have anything from the last 4-6 weeks as I havn't been lookin' in that direction. ;)
