Hard to say, but I really hope that they dump the speed rating system that they're currently using. When I buy a processor, I like it to reflect what I will get out of it...not what they THINK that it's equivalent to.

yeah it is bit of a pain. I sell computer systems right, and a few days latter i get a phone call from a client. "My Computer is a AMD 1800 but in a program it says its a 1533, you ripped me off!!"

I think the chip maker's main aim with these are mainly heat reduction - as current day processors make quite a bit of heat to dissipate. It'll certainly help in notebooks - with the trend being thin and light, heat issues are a real bugger to tackle. It's just a pleasant side effect that the chips are able to be scaled higher.
