What's the AMD scoop???

I'm curious about what the latest deal is in the comp for the fastest processor.

I've heard it said that the AMD processors are actually faster than Pentiums, but I've also heard that the AMDs are problematic.

Are AMD processors really faster?:?:

I'm not going to be needing anything for a couple of years, but I'm looking ahead ( this summer I just got a 2.0 P4, 1gig DDR Ram, 2 80gig 7200 HD - C drive is 8 meg cache - 32 whatever graphics card, running XP Pro 2002, and that's all I can member now without checking my papaerwork)
