    What is this about the whole powder deal?? On tech tv with that guy that shook and dropped that "one of a kind" item said something about hard drive data being a powder and if you drop your drive the powder spills out within the drive. I could have sworn data was nothing more then magnetized 1's and 0's on the platters and the computer interprets this as data. But powder?!!?? and then my brother made fun of this guy at an xbox forum and one of the more knowledable computer people said something like "ya its strange........but true" what's the deal with this?? Someone really needs to elaborate this for me.

    I've opened hard drives before...didn't see any powder

    btw, don't ever open a hdd unless you were going to trash it anyway...it's a kiss of death to a hdd

      I assume he was talking about the substance bonded to the disc, not a loose powder;
