Plan B = spend all tax cheque on more hardware. ;)

CheeZmonZter
04-03-2003, 12:22 AM
Actually there is no plan "B" But it sure got kane to spend a lot of money:cackle: and no I am not spending the tax money on more hardware. I just save my left over change in a Growler bottle from the local brewery and use that for new hardware. This 2100 system was to cheap to pass up! :thumb:  :thumb:

Hey Cheez, Looks like you got some competition. This pic is WUs submitted since 3-17-03
Elrado1 is just 1 WU shy of what you submitted. He might be getting ready to put you 1 spot lower! So watch your back.

BTW Way to go elrado1!!!!!!!!

Well I'll just look after myself and these sort of times are gettin' very common now on this 2600+ of mine.

With my XP1700+ I will be happy when the time drops to under 4 hours.
BTW what is the meaning of the 2 cents smiley?

Wiggo
04-08-2003, 07:01 PM
It's a term in anglo-saxon countries of "puttin' in my 2 cents worth" as an opinion. ;)

kane2g
04-08-2003, 07:45 PM
damn 2Hrs!!! I got about 3hrs and change on most of mine. But that number looks awfully good. :thumb:

Wiggo
04-08-2003, 08:16 PM
I'm still tryin' to catch one of them sub 2hr jobs but those *******s are just to quick for me.

kane2g
04-08-2003, 08:43 PM
maybe getting one of them super-dooper liquid cooled bartons xp3000 and cranking up the FSB up till the watter starts boiling??
hell Im just happy when I see anything less than 3hrs,

Wiggo
04-08-2003, 08:50 PM
My 2600+ @ 2.26GHz, 2200+ @ 1900MHz and P4 2.4 @ 2.7GHz (in order of crunching) all average under 3hrs but my 1800+ @ 1633MHz on 8K3A will get in under 3hr now and again as well.

Sounds like Wiggo is turning some sub-2hr units. He's just not around to get a screen shot of one.

: peace2:

I'm currently holding my breath 'til I reach the 750 milestone. Should be any minute now.

:wow:

My next project, to build a PC that averages under 2hrs seein' as I pulled off the <2.5hr one, off course that will have to be another AMD. :D

kane2g
04-09-2003, 10:58 AM
I use SETIWatch to see how long each WU took.
here's a screenshot.
BTW you have to have the SETIlog.csv on in the SetiDriver for that to work.

Get this
-I reinstalled Windows on a different partition and now my w/u take 4.5hr when it took 6hr for an installation that was a month old, and im still running same background prog and always up to date on defrag

Hmmmm....My units are taking 2:35-2:45 each....Guess you'd better get that new 2100+ system going AMD-Man....I'm kicking right now ;)

That SETIlog looks pretty nifty. I'll have to give it a whorl one of these days.

ok I think it is time to Update this thread.

I have these systems online....he he you think i was going to tell ya? ya right! anyway I don't have the cluster up and running so I am thinking of just saying screw it!!!! and going with a farm system type of thingy like everyone else. The IT guy I had working on it is so swamped with work I dont think he is going to be able to help out any time soon. I have 8 systems Idle right now and tis 'bout time to get them running. I have a 400, 450, 550, 1.3 and a 2100+ idle thats the AMD systems I also have a few 200, 333 systems (p:barf: ) sitting here doing nothing but colecting dust. Its about time to get every thing going and see what I can do. lets see what happens in the next few weeks, shall we?

Wiggo
05-15-2003, 03:16 PM
Yes my lead is growin' (15 PC's now online from a PII300 to the XP2600+) and some of ya's need it try and peg it back a little and thus increase ya own count from the pack. :devil win

kane2g
05-15-2003, 03:43 PM
just when I thought that I dont have to worry about the Cheez anymore, there he is, crunching like a madman!!!!
And of course I find this out after I take one of my systems down to play with RAID setup!!! I say there is conspiracy agains Kane!!
Why noone likes Kane??
Why are you trying to take away my spot?????

But thankfully my WC project is almost complete. So is the car setup. Gotta go and tweak the systems some more.

BTW congrats Cheez on getting your spot back. the newbie had you there for a while.

Wiggo
05-15-2003, 03:55 PM
Now if the car could also crunch w/u's. :?:

kane2g
05-15-2003, 06:29 PM
I like that prediction.
Oh and the car will not be crunching units but I might take the 1.something Ghz athlon off the test bench and swap it into the place of current 750athlon. should help a lil. Cheez got me worried!

Wiggo
05-15-2003, 09:36 PM
Oh he's just feelin' the nForce2 flowin' but I'll admit that it is addictive (2 x 8RDA+ {1800+ & 2600+ T'bred B's} setups account for 20 of my w/u's per day now (9/11) where as 3 x KT333's {2 x 1800+ Pallies & 1 x 2200+ T'bred A} account for 23 w/u's).

BTW the P4 2.4B @ 27GHz accounts for 8.5 w/u's p/d and 1.7 Celery @ 1.87GHz 3 w/u's plus a Duron 1200 on nForce1 does 5 w/u's with around 8.5 w/u's provided by 7 PII's (NOTE: figures vary with usage and reconfiguration work).

CheeZmonZter
06-03-2003, 10:44 AM
well now that I finally found my win 98 disk I am going to be getting all of my systems online in the next few days. I am going to do a farm setup till i can get the Cluster F#$K going. Be afraid.

Wiggo
06-03-2003, 12:16 PM
Well someone's bound to be worried about this latest prediction.

CheeZmonZter
06-03-2003, 12:21 PM
One new system online. Next.

kane2g
06-04-2003, 08:52 PM
i like this one. :D

Wiggo
06-04-2003, 09:44 PM
I really think that ya need a more recent file that also takes in newer members there as that must still have me at about 40 w/u's per day. :devil win

CheeZmonZter
06-05-2003, 12:03 AM
Another system online. Next. and oh btw i really need a KVM switch now!

You mean like this one? This is using June 1st till now as a basis:

kane2g
06-05-2003, 01:38 AM
yeah, i did mess up on the day (named it wrong) so the results are off. but so are yours, as you seem to make predictions after I am away and not submitting any WUs:p

Wiggo
06-05-2003, 08:38 AM
Oh well but the file I used is only 3 weeks old.

Wiggo

And I have this screen-shot to share...

Wiggo

Gee it wasn't all that long ago when our team didn't even total 1K. :D

Wordbiker
06-09-2003, 10:37 AM
OK, at the great and potentially humiliating risk of showing what little I really do know about computers....I have a question.
Either with or without a hyperthreading processor, or perhaps even with multiple processors, is it possible to run the SETI client more than one time consecutively on the same computer? If so, why, and if not....why not? Anyone? :geek:

Wiggo
06-09-2003, 10:50 AM
With multiple CPU's you can run a w/u on each but it's not worth running 2 processes on 1 CPU due to overheads (I don't know about a hyperthreading CPU's though).

kane2g
06-09-2003, 01:31 PM
Its a sad day! I got into the #2 spot, and since I cant kick Wiggo's ass, its only going to be downhill from here.
Now I gotta watch my back!! :shoot:

Wordbiker
06-09-2003, 11:31 PM
I can foresee a time when we'll settle into a groove, everyone finding a placing.....and riding a SETI machine cranking out a million units a day....that'd rock!:thumb:

kane2g
06-10-2003, 07:32 AM
Hopefully some grove's will be above Cheeze's, errr I mean others. Yeah, thats it. :D

CheeZmonZter
06-13-2003, 03:33 AM
I want my spot back. And this is down one Nforce board too, that should be back here in a couple of days.....then its take down time (again)

kane2g
06-14-2003, 03:11 PM
I am 1337
And not with all WUs submitted, as there seems to be problem submitting them.

BTW We just got into top 1000 Club teams!

Wiggo
06-14-2003, 10:40 PM
Yes I mentioned already about our rankin's but I've over 50 w/u's to swap out but the server is down so my bandwidth will be overloaded once I can for sometime. :(

kane2g
06-15-2003, 01:04 AM
I still didnt swap my WUs, and I am leaving again tommorow!
But this morning they are looking better, 1 in 3 tries gets the WU uploaded.

CheeZmonZter
11-20-2003, 04:52 AM
Hmmm seems that we are back in the same ole' boat again, its just odd, in the 5 months since posting here we have taken 7000 wu's down!!!
