  • homemade rounded cables?

have any of you guys tried it?

I dont' really want to cut up my ribbon cables, and I saw these for sale on directron. I could easily make these--what do you guys think of these?

(can I use a hair dryer to shrink heatshrink tubing?)

Hmm, will a hairdryer get it hot enough :?:

You could always use a hot air pistol, or whatever they are called in english, they are great and is used to hot up carpets, melting ice, fixing frozen locks etc...

Just be careful not to damage the ide cable inside the heatshrink tubing.

            I've used a min-blow torch

just get the flame close enough to heat it up, but not too close

hehe. when i first saw rounded cables i tried doing it.
i got some spare ide cables and started the split in the groove and peeled it down. i stikky taped it up and tried it out.
it didnt work but that may have just been my shoddy craftmanship, i really wasnt going on quality more on time....

pc case gear has some selling for $18AUD ($9USD) for 60 cm ones so thats not a bad price.

Nah, mod your own - then when you screw it up, go buy the proper rounded cable. :)

so are you saying I need to try modding my own and fail just everyone else before shelling out the cash and buying real ones?
