I gots a LiteOn 24x10x40
Paid $230for it, now you can get em for $190
grrrr
Great burner though, totally kicks the shiat out of the Sony ones.
Also reads and writes Safedisc2 and proper EMF Encoding. Theyre kinda like the $700 Plextor burners, only instead of reading a protected cd in 3mins, it takes about 5-10mins.
boo-hoo. For the price difference, I really dont care.
My linux box had a mitsubishi 6x4x32 until I swapped it for a celeron

I'm actually looking for something that can burn Safedisk 2 properly.. The main reason I got my current Sony burner is because it worked so well with Clone CD, it used to be good for everything.. but if the new Sony burners can't do SD2 properly.. then i'm lookin somewhere else i guess. :( and i so much wanted a memory stick port in my burner too.. :)

Well, the LiteOn wont fail you Beefy.
The reason the Sony drives cant do safedisc2 is because they cant write EMF patterns. The Sony drives are great except for that missing 'feature'. Memory stick slot isnt really as useful as you would imagine it to be...unless of course you have a camera without a high-bandwidth transfer medium/internal storage.
Anyway, its always best to checkout the CloneCD homepage and under the 'supported writers' link it will display what drives can/cant do. Thats how I found out about the LiteOn, then I googled it, read some reviews, and here I am. Ripping flashpoint and maxpayne without a worry in the world. :)
