View Full Version : SATA cable Length

In my upcoming system I'm planning on using a full tower case that is just under 26in. tall (670mm) tall. I know there is an 18in. max advisable length for normal ATA cables, which if I would have to combine an optical drive and a HD drive on the same channel would def. pose some problems. I'm curious if anyone knows the max length of a SATA cable, so perhaps I can run my HD's to SATA and leave my optical drives for dedicated channels (hopefully the cables will be long enough). Also, since I haven't really heard anything about it...are there any SATA RAID solutions out there? Thanks

Up to one metre for SATA cables.

Yes, there are RAID solutions provided by most of the sorage manufacturers (Adaptec, Promise, etc).
