I seen some pics recently of one held in the US which had almost 9000 gamers there and was held in a football stadium (under cover one of course). :smokin:
The power bill must have been humungus.

Sounds like the yearly QuakeCon, or maybe the big one that the PGL [professional gamers league] has. [I'm not sure if PGL exists anymore though..:king:

I can't even remember which site had the links for it but it was certainly populated. If I happen to come across it again I'll post a pic or two. ;)

Mmmmmmmmm... massive LANage.

But I think there comes a number where that many people becomes pointless at a LAN... I mean, at a 1000 player LAN, you would have just as many CS games available as at a 10,000 :)

so, it still looks funky & it'd be kewl to enter CS & just look at all the servers up & running....there'd be like HEAPZ all maxed out most likely too..

if bill gates walked in, someone would scalp him and put a pile of tux's on his corpse. Period.

I wonder what the building is for. that is kind of amazing they were able to power all those computers. They very likely had to beef up the building's transformers. Or maybe the building had three phase.

Wiggo
02-22-2002, 08:00 AM
The building is apparently an indoor football stadium according to the article. :smokin:

I don't even know if three-phase power is enough.... our IT building at TAFE has three-phase and if only one of the phases goes out the whole building is crippled bigtime
