im pretty sure you cant. most, if not all HL mods require the pak files that come with half-life (for textures/sounds etc)

besides, nobody in their right mind should of brought retail cs :p

Beefy- its worth getting fired over. :D

Yes, you can play DoD v.2 using CS retail.

Obviously, the way to have gone initially would have been to purchase Half-Life and then get the mod version of CS and every other HL mod that interests you.

But, since you have CS retail, you are in luck anyhow when it comes to DoD. Just download it, install into CS directory and you're laughing.

Well I am still very new to DOD 2 and maybe I should play some more of it b4 I comment but nah here goes. To be very blunt I liked DOD 1 (most releases) a "LOT" better than DOD 2 dont know if its the whole balance of the game has been totally screwed around with or the LAG BUG which I am sure I am not THAT far out when I shoot:crazy:
My advice if ya gonna play on lan and you can set up your own server stick with say version 1.3b untill they fix some of the issues with it.
Okay that's my two cents worth now FLAME ON :devil win

Yeah some valid points there.

When i first started DoD2 i found some annoying things with the Aiming an stuff but once u play it for a while it's way better.

In clan wars it is HEAPS better than 1.3 One of the best games Ive ever played Clan Matches on

The lag issue cause is known an they will have a fix very soon now

One of the things I hated with 1.3b was the lack of recoil.
I welcome it to 2.0

But I hate how the allies take it up the arse every map. I used to always be ally (love the sargent rifle..cant remember its name) but now its either be axis, or hope to god your ally teammates arent idiots.

Just some news on DoD 2.1

Garand recoil being toned down to balance it with the Kar
Grenade kill radius is being reduced
MG accuracy is being tweaked, especially made more inaccurate when standing (bad luck rambos)
Big fixes in the lag
Axis LI will now have 3 grenades
Possibly faster overheating on the MG42
Maybe muzzle flash's on the 3rd person weapon models - not certain
Sniper rifle will be back to one shot kill, was a bug in beta 2
Possible change of Kar's accuracy when moving
Crosshairs will always be skinny lines, and colours will be customisable

Misc Info
Proned can't be fixed atm, due to the HL engine being crap (hehe)
Expect particle systems in a future release, for when bullets hit walls etc
