  • DirectX 9.0 & 3DMark2001SE

If I install DirectX 9.0 (from Windows update) onto my PC, will I still be able to run 3DMark2001 SE or is my Ti4200 graphics card not compatible with DirectX 9.0? :?:

depending on which version you're running - you may need a patch
both the latest "DX9 compatible" version and the patch are available at the Futuremark site

like I said...it depends on which version you're running - the later ones are fine w/DX9 - I was still running the initial release of SE & had to install the patch after I loaded DX9

No i didnt download anyaptch for my computer, and it is running a TI4400. But why run 3DMARK01 when 3DMARK03 is out? You can get it for free, also

the reason why 3dmark01se is still a good benchmark is quite obvious...
nvidia ti cards and many other older radeons(8500,9100), score very poorly on 3dmark03, but this is not a reliable nor a realistic comparison. Only dx9 cards do well with 03, but almost all current and most near future games do and will use dx8,for example, doom3 will be an openGL game whic uses some feautres of dx9....(ti4x00 shouldn't have a major problem with it)
            I bet u will play doom3 better on a ti4600 rather than a R9200( which i believe has full dx9 hardware support...)

3dMark03 doesnt give a very good comparison for current games, but i does give a good idea of how your machine will handle latter directX 9.0 games such as Doom III. I think your talkin about the FX 5200 as R9200 only features directX 8.1, and i would hope Ti4600 performs better cause it cost a fair bit more. I'm sure the makers of Doom III will include lower grahics settings for older cards such as Geforce 4, but if you want a card that will run Doom III in all its gory detail you will need a high end directX 9.0 card.

                O crape.....:smokin: :smokin: :smokin:
You're right. I just tried to run 3dmark01 and it said " PLEASE INSTALL DIRECTX 8 ON YOU COMPUTER TO RUN THIS PROGRAM." Looks like it cant recognize that the DX9 i have loaded supports all the stuff that DX8 does.
