    Default 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.00

A buddy of mine has this board and was wanting to upgrade his cpu to a E7500. The compatability list says it will work but needs bios 2.10. Does anyone know for sure if this cpu will work with this board and what is the preferred way to flash bios since there's a dos and a windows version? Thanks.

Here is the CPU compatibility list:
    ASRock > Products > 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 > CPU Support List
He should shut down all programs before flashing BIOS to make sure, that nothing will disturb the flashing process. The Windows flash BIOS works fine.

Thanks, we checked that same list but have had some instances where things were on a list, but when bought and paid for didn't work. Going by what it says it should work, was just wondering if anyone else here has used this board with a cpu that wasn't an older P4 lol.

Don't get nervous, when there will appear a "bad checksum" message after the BIOS is flashed. This is normal and will disappear at second reboot.

Yeah he said he got a bad checksum error after he flashed lol. But it showed the BIOS were updated and it booted afterwards. He was worried for a sec cause he's never flashed bios before but it worked out, he's gonna order the E7500 so I'll re-post when he get's it installed. Thanks for the quick responses.
or I'll just point him this way and let him post how it goes, he may have some questions about possibly overclocking if the cpu works lol

Also had another quick question. I looked at the VGA compatability list here ASRock > Products > 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 > VGA Support List and it only goes up to the HD2600 with the CAT 7.6 drivers. Would this board be able to run a HD3870 being the CAT 7.6's haven't been used in a while?

My second system is based on a Asrock 775Dual-VSTA mainboard, which is similar to 4CoreDual-SATA2 (same chipset). I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 Pro running on this with the latest ATI Drivers. The 3870 is on the 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.00 list and should work properly with the latest ATI drivers.

Gonna ship it to him Monday so I guess we'll find out around Friday if it's going to work or not......also, he got the new cpu and it works great and actually runs about 10C cooler ;)

Ran into a little snag with the 3870, it was coming out of our kids comp and being replaced with a 3870 X2 but I'm guessing their board chipset doesn't like the dual gpu cards, so would a 3870 X2 work on this 4CoreDual-SATA2 board? Not sure if the 880 chipset likes dual gpu cards since I've never used a VIA chipset board before.
