Question ION 3D suspend switches off

    Hi,

My new Asrock ION 3D is working well, except that when the OS (Linux) does a suspend-to-ram, the Asrock powers off completely after about 10 minutes.

So, initially, it suspends, with a flashing blue LED on the power button. After a while, it goes dark and if I power it on, it's no longer in "suspend" mode.

I installed BIOS 1.30 and there's no difference in behavior.

Why doesn't the BIOS just remain in "suspend" indefinitely?

Thumbs up [SOLVED] Re: ION 3D suspend switches off

    Hi,

    I've found the cause.

    It's actually a feature of Linux's pm-suspend-hybrid process.

The computer is suspended to RAM, and then a timer is set. After the timer goes off, Linux puts the computer into hibernation.

The default value for this timeout is 15 minutes, and you can change it by creating a configuration file in /etc/pm/config.d which sets PM_HIBERNATE_DELAY to the number of seconds you want.

Hope that helps someone in the future....

    RR
