I just put together a system using a Conroe 1333 GLAN motherboard with a Pentium D950 processor and Windows 7 64-bit. For wireless access I'm trying to use a D-Link USB adapter. When I insert it in the jack, a message pops up telling me the device will perform faster if I install it in a USB 2.0 jack.
I'm thinking the problem is with the motherboard, not the adapter, as in I'm missing a 64-bit USB driver for the board.
I can get on-line, by the way, but only for a short time. The adapter goes dark, until I remove it and put it back.
Am I correct in thinking it's a 64-bit driver problem? Do I need to take this system to 32-bit?
I'd appreciate some help.
