Default Z68 Extreme4 throttling at extreme clocks...

Im trying to complete a review on this motherboard but am having problems pushing it to the extreme and benching with it.

    Clockspeed: 5.4GHz

Set max wattage setting to 300, temperatures do not appear to break 70C (under dual rad cpu only h20 setup). This only happens when using Wprime32 and 1024. Under single threaded or quad only (no HT) such as Spi1M or 32M or pifast it doesnt happen. At idle it stays at 54x multi.

This does NOT happen on Asrock P67 Fatality, Gigabyte UD7, or Asus P67 Evo.

What is going on? I have all thermal throttling disabled in the bios...everything I could find that would remotely look like it would throttle the chip. It seems to take it all the way down to 40X (4Ghz).

    System:

    i7 2600k
    z68 extreme4
    GSKill Ripjaws @ 2133 7-10-7-27
    Seasonic X750

EDIT UPDATE: This thing even throttles at 4c/4t and 50x (5Ghz). Temps never break 60C there and it throttles to 49x.......

Did you set manually Long and Short Turbo Boost Power Limits as well as Core Current Limit?

I do not have those options, just the one... what did I not enable to see those?

I see your signature has 1.64 bios... Im on 1.10. Where can I grab that?

EDIT: I found it, I have to enable speedstep to see those. And that more or less seeemed to work. Thing is though, I have a 55x chip, that with those settings worked once, then I rebooted and now it just sits at a cursor like I dont have that mullti anymore. I disable everything like above, and I can get back in...? What am I missing now?

I have P67 Extreme4 (still B2 revision). There is an issue with blinking cursor. People can run some decent OC and after reboot the same setting won't work again. Weird.
We need some ASRock guys to look at this problem.

    AHh... ok...

Yeah, it seems to work now... but that was a weird experience with a known good multi. Walked away from it and came back, all was well.

Problem appears solved. I cant believe I missed that.

Jas, i'm thinking of getting this board. did you experience this problem again? and what is the highest you were able to clock your CPU while keeping the machine stable?

It depends more on CPU rather than motherboard.
