Default Extreme 6 Cooler and Power fluctuation Problems

    1. I have the Extreme 6 and bought a Zalman 9500A cooler that came with the mounting kit for LGA 1155. Needless to say, no matter how many ways I tried to install the cooler it would only fit one way but that way the retaining clip blocks the first RAM slot. So the cooler has to go. Can anyone recommend a good cooler that actually fits so I don't have to play the RMA game with coolers?

    2. I just setup my build (Extreme 6, Intel i5 2500k, GSkill F3-14900CL9D-8GBXL RAM, KINGWIN LZ-1000 1000W PSU) today with a stock cooler (above). Upon startup, the system stayed powered for 2 sec and turned off. After 3 secs without touching a button, it powered up again and lasted for 3-4sec and powered down. Several seconds later, it came back on and this time stayed on through POST and BIOS setup. After shutting the PSU off, turning PSU back on, and pressing panel power button, the system went through the same process again. This is every system starts up. I'm at a loss at what's going on. Not sure if it's the board, the PSU or something with the case (Cooler Master HAF X 942 KKN1).

    1. Put RAM sticks in white slots.
    2. Flash latest official UEFI. Dualboot was fixed light years ago.

My cooler (Zalman 10x) ,wont allow me to use slot 1 unless I move the push fan up about 20 mm.
That is easy to do as the fan is attached by wire clips.
The fan on the exhaust side of the cooler(added later but extra clips come with the cooler) clears the motherboard heatsinks by a few mm in its normal position.

However I do now have my ram in slots 2 and 4 as raider suggests .
    Why?
I can now mount the cpu intake fan a little below where it would normally be and some of the intake air is sucked directly thru the memory heatsinks.

The memory is cooler in operation than it was before.
How do I know this ?
I use a temp probe on each stick.
right now the stick in slot 2 is at 33.2c and the one in slot 4 is at 35.1c.
