Unhappy Can't Change Starting Fan RPMs thru BIOS on P67 Extreme4

Greetings, I currently rebuilt my Dell XPS 630i (650i motherboard Q6600 CPU) with the Asrock P67 Extreme 4, i5 2600K CPU. The way my Dell was originally setup had the 2 front chasis fans connected to the Master I/O board that would control the fans and LED lights on the chasis. I was originally able to control these with a Nvidia Performance control panel (but it didn't seem to always work correctly, by that I mean it would never seem to increase the fan RPM's when under load even though that setting was activated).

So when I installed the new Asrock board I wanted to use the 4-pin chasis fan connectors on the board and have all my fans controlled thru the Bios/Asrock Extreme Tuning Utility. The problem I have is that when attaching my fans directly to the new motherboard the lowest RPMs I can achieve are 2,000 (which is quite loud, compared to being hooked up to the Master I/O board that I can no longer control, but apparently spins at a much lower and quieter RPM). When adjusting the fan target speed from 1 to 10 the RPMs increase in increments of 200, so when cranked up to 10 I'm hitting 4,000 RPM's.

Is there anyway to limit the lower end starting RPM's on my chasis fans (the Bios setting is already at level 1 which is 2,000 RPMs)? Albeit some Bios tweak, or even some add on limiter between the fan and the motherboard...

This is my first build and everything else has gone perfect, but not being able to lower the fan RPMs is driving me nuts!!!

Thanx in advance for any help or recommendations.

need more info on the fan types..
    What are they?
Are they new or resurrected Dell ones?

    Check also:
    Z68 Extreme4 fan control

cpu fans 1 and 2 are set at lvl 6 which means they run at 1500rpm until cpu temp exceeds 65c then they run flat out 1800-1900 rpm.

My chassis one fan (also 4 pin ) I leave running at lvl 2 until cpu temp exceeds exceeds 65c.it would spin up to 2000 rpm max ,but a resistor came with it which limits its maximum speed..

What sort of fan do you have that runs at 2000rpm low then spins up to 4000 rpm ?

The only one I have like that is my cpu fan on the 820d system in my sig..
Its a 90mmcpu cooler fan that came with the system (packard bell) when new.

that nvidia control thing only works with certain chipsets/bios.
decent 120mm fans arent that expensive ,if you cant sort out the ones you have.

Also dell fan wiring(if thats the fans youre using ) is different to standard.
    Same system at idle 4.8ghz.

So I finally had a chance to take apart my fan assembly (and give it a good cleaning while I was at it).

    The model is a follows:
    . Mfr. Nidec
    . P/N: B35502-35
    . Size: 120mm x 120mm x 38mm
. Type: PWM (Pulse Width Modulation)
    . Rated Voltage: 12 Volt
    . Operating Voltage: 4.0-13.40 VDC
    . Input Current: 1.40A
    . Speed: 3600 RPM
    . Air Flow: 130 CFM
    . Noise Level: 50 dBA
. Bearing System: Two Ball Bearings
    . Wire length: 14"
    . Connector: 5-pin / 4-wire plug connector

I'm thinking I might need to flat out replace these and go with a lower RPM fan (these things definitely push a lot of air though). Does anyone have any suggestions on a good (quite but effective) PWM controlled 120MM fan? I don't have any open molex connected power cables that aren't being used, so that isn't an option.

    Any help is appreciated.

    I use CM Stores
push fan on the cpu cooler(it actually runs up to 2000rpm,see the little speed adjusting rheostat.)+ has hi static pressure.

    and then Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm x 25mm Fan - 1850 RPM (D1225C12B5AP-15) - FrozenCPU.com
on the pull side of the cooler.the scythe one is non pwm but its speed varies with the pwm one, usefull function of the asrock cpu1+cpu2 fan headers.

    Scythe Slip Stream 120mm x 25mm PWM High Speed Fan - (SY1225SL12H-P) - FrozenCPU.com
1900 rpm version are well regarded and quiet for the 100+ airflow

Check out ARCTIC F PWM Case fans Cooling Arctic Cooling, and click on the Technical Data tab for detailed info. Their PRO model fans have an open fan cage and probably can't be reverse mounted to change the air flow direction. Check out Newegg - Arctic Cooling Fans, 120mm fan; $9.99 with free shipping.

I'm a big fan (pun intended) of FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) fans. The Arctic Cooling PWM fans are very quiet and have a 6 year warranty.
I've used 6 Scythe S-FLEX (FDB) PWM fans for over three years with no problems. At 1300 rpm they are near silent and at 1600 rpm the sound is noticeable but not annoying.
