    Red face A770De+ EZ OC

Hi. I want to OC this A770DE+ mb. My cpu is a Phenom IIx4 940 BE [3.0], gpu is a GTS 450 fpb, 2x2 DDR2 ram 5 5 5 18 400x2, and a TT Toughpower 775W psu. I used OC Tuner to raise the CPU freq from 200 to 210, which gives me a speed of 3.143. V Core is 1.32.

There is an EZ OC option in the Bios, but it is greyed out and i can't use it. How do i turn it on? And what else should i change in the settings to OC?

    Thanks!

OK, i found the EZ OC and oc'd 5%. BUT my benchmarks were really low! Looks like it messed up the memory config. Also tried just increasing the multiplier and voltage per Tom's Hardware with OC Tuner since this is a Black Edition processor and that works much better. But how do i change the multiplier in the bios?

Also is it possible to unlock the cores to make a 6 core?

if you don't mind i'll try and help you'

its a quadcore, no others cores to unlock.

look in the owners manual or download the pdf of manua of yours like i didl, page 37 shows the bios options and where they are.

what kind of cooler and case do you have?

I have a Hyper 212+ push/pull, and a Rosewill Destroyer with a ton of fans. Heat is not an issue. I do have the manual.

LOL my bad! i did find the option in the pdf! Guess i didn't scroll down enough on the bios page :(.
So i ran prime95, max temp is 53C [room temp is 80F]. All is well!

cool, had to ask about the cooler, if you had the stock cooler i'd say no to oc'ing this kit.
with having 800mhz memory i say don't use the hypertransport link to oc,
it raises the mem frequency and northbridge also,

some software i use CPU-Z for info, wPrime for short stress testing/score, OCCT for stress testing and cortemp for temp.

the only changes we're making will be to the cpu multiplier, and voltage

in the bios i would leave everything at auto/default except
cool & quiet - off - want it to stay at max frequency.
Q-fan - off - max fan speed for cooling.
cpu multiplier set it to 200x15
    voltage at stock.
    restart

Actually the stock multiplier is 15, i raised it to 16 which gives me 3200 MHz and put Vcore voltage at 1.3375 [to avoid bluescreen] and set the Memory to the 800 preset and left the rest alone. The 940 Black Edition is made to OC, those are the adjustments Tom's Hardware recommends. I use Prime 95 and 3DMark11, both passed.

the settings were so they were set in the bios,
the second step from where your at is to up the multi .5 and restart,
once the pc starts to have problems starting, up the voltage to the next number and test for stability.
i use wPrime as it uses all cores and 2 tests 32/1024m will give a score.

up multi, test, up voltage test, always watching temps, have you cleaned the dust from the fins on the cooler lately?
and i believe the max temp for your cpu is 62c

p.s. a funny thing to watch for is when oc'ing, you will see/feel the pc running fast and when you make the next setting changes higher it will feel slower, don't know why but remember those settings as your reaching the max you can oc.
