    Default Memory slots bad?

New build with ASRock p67 Extreme4, and won't boot with RAM sticks in other than slots A1-B1. So, problem is I can only get single channel not dual channel technology. I bought matched pair of Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb (CMZ8GX3M2a1600C8). They are on Corsair compatibility list for this board. Both sticks pass memtest. System will boot with either stick in slot A1. If try to put both in slots A1-A2 (blue slots) or B1-B2 (white slots), system cycles on-off every 3 seconds or so. System will only boot to 8gb RAM with sticks in slots A1-B1.

I tried clearing CMOS, removing battery, stripping to bare bones (no VGA, etc.), to no effect. Is this a bad board? Or do I need to tweak something in BIOS?

Right now everything is at default - no OC. Memory (BIOS) default settings are 9-9-9-24 1333mhz @ 1.50V. The memory sticks are spec at 8-8-8-24 1600mhz @ 1.50V. I did try to set the BIOS to 8-8-8-24 1600mhz @ 1.50V, and nothing changed.

Also, I flashed BIOS to most recent ver 1.80 - didn't help

no response from ASRock? I guess that tells you something.

Corsair Memory is saying that this is a motherboard problem, not a RAM problem or compatibility issue.

    The complete build:
    ASROck P67 Extreme4
BIOS 1.80 - all at default
i7-2600 (not K) running at 3700 mhz, CPU Ratio x36.0, BCLK 100.00 mhz
RAM = Corsair Vengenace 2x4gb, running at 1.50V, have set to 8-8-8-24 2N 1600mhz (recommended by Corsair) or 9-9-9-24 2N 1333mhz (default in BIOS) - no difference in bootability
    VGA = 2x Sapphire Radeon 6970 2gb
PSU = Kingwin Lazer 1000W bronze
    Corsair Performance3 SATA3 SSD
    4xWD RES4 SATA2 HDD in RAID10 and RAID0
    1xHitachi SATA3 HDD
    LG BD Burner
    HAF 932 case, etc

Operating tempos are all normal and I have not set anything to overclock.

Anybody got ideas for BIOS settings or anything that will get this mobo working in Dual Channel?

    Dear hullflyer,

Please kindly refer to below suggestions for testing.
    1. Only install a stick memory by turns to check whether each DRAM slot can recognize your memory or not.
    2. Only install a stick to the DRAM slot by turns to check your two sticks memory are fine.
    3. If possible, please kindly change other memory to check whether the symptom still occur.

If the problem still cannot be solved, please kindly contact your local dealer to check your system.

    Have a nice day
    ASRock TSD Emily
