    Default A75M new build---help

I'm building a computer with the following parts:

    ASRock A75M mobo
    AMD 3850 APU AD3850WNGXBOX
Intel 320 Series SSDSA2CW160G3K5 2.5" 160GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive
LITE-ON DVD Burner SATA Model iHAS124-04
Seagate Barracuda ST31000524AS 1TB Hard Drive
    G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBRM

I want to end up with Windows 7 Home Premium on the SSD. I want to be ready to just do it when the parts arrive some time next week, and I hope the good folks here can give me a pointer or two. I'm worried about the BIOS SATA AHCI settings, and I don't understand the mobo owner's manual because it's written in Chinglish and uses undefined terms. I have heard that the optical drive won't work with AHCI enabled. I have also heard that to install the manufacturer's AHCI driver I'll need a floppy drive.

I'm also wondering whether I'll need to install Win 7 with only the SSD and optical installed so that Windows won't try to load to the Seagate HDD.

Any other advice would be gratefully received, too.

Your dvd drive will work fine in ahci mode as long is its a SATA dvd drive, just plug your ssd into port 0/first port, then set ahci in BIOS and install win7,Windows will find/install all the drivers for you,no need for extra files on a floppy, once installed add your storage hdd into SATA port1

You can install updated ahci drivers from mb website later if you want, but you don't have to if you don't want

Ta, wazza. I feel better now. One more thing---Intel has issued a firmware update for the 320 SSDs. Should I take the trouble to install it before I install the OS, or doesn't it matter?
