My OCZ Agility2 sata2 ssd performs at rated speeds in AHCI mode.
Double check the OCZ ssd forums to verify which bios settings are needed to ensure maximum sata3 ssd performance.
If you have any questions about the bios settings, post your question(s) in their forum.

Did you test your ssd in the vacated pci-e slot or did you use the original 4X pci-e#5 slot?

    update

Just removed second graphics card and moved the revo to the second pciex slot and hey presto....full speed ...in fact the write is faster than it was on my x58-ud7. 510 mbs.

so does this mean that the motherboard is faulty as I bought this board because it clearly stated that the pciex speed was 8x8x4 when all three slots were populated.

    thx for the interest btw

Try contacting ASRock tech support at ASRock > Support Request Form.
It will help if you provide all details and include a link to this thread.

To assist other owners, let us know if/how the problem is resolved.

Based on the Z68 chipset diagram, I'm not sure how the lanes are available in the X4 pcie slot, especially with an SLI setup.
It might have something to do with the quote from post #4 that mentions three identical PCI Express x16 graphics cards:

2.7 SLITM and Quad SLITM Operation Guide
This motherboard supports NVIDIAŽ SLITM and Quad SLITM (Scalable Link Interface) technology that allows you to install up to three identical PCI Express x16 graphics cards.

From page 22 in your mobo user manual:
PCIE5 (PCIE 2.0 x16 slot) is used for PCI Express x4 lane width graphics
    cards
, or used to install PCI Express graphics cards to support
    3-Way CrossFireXTM function
    .
I didn't find any other references to the x4 PCIE5 slot in the manual.

Question for ASRock tech support: Does this mean that only graphics cards are supported in the x4 PCIE5 slot?

    Dear Griff7520,

    Sorry for my late reply.

The specification of PCIE5 slot is x4 mode, please kindly refer to below link for product specification.
    Link: ASRock > Products > Z68 Extreme4 Gen3

Could you tell me which PCIE slot did you install the SSD in Gigabyte x58 motherboard?

If possible, please kindly remove your VGA card, use onboard graphic to output and install the SSD to PCIE2 slot to check SSD speed.

    Thanks for your help.

    Have a nice day

    Hi

    As i said earlier in this post I have removed it and put it in the pciex4 slot and it ran at full speed.;

In the X58 Board it is irrelevant which slot it was in as all the graphics slots were x16 or x8

This pciex5 slot on the Asrock board should run at x4 which should be correct for the revo drive.
