1600MHz with lowest possible heatsink or even without.

I prefer to run the fastest non-OC memory a motherboard supports.

    I love my Mushkin Redline 4 x 4gb model 991999 - DDR3-1600mhz

    XMP 1600mhz profile @ 7-8-7-24 CR2 works like a charm. For bandwidth I'm getting 19000+/- MB/sec read/write, and 20000+ copy. Latency = 44ns+/-.

Stock speeds on Extreme7 Gen3 running an Intel i7-2600k.

Sandy Bridge do not benefit from higher clocked memory.

    Didn't know about that!
I was thinking getting Patriot Extreme Division 2 1866mhz... LINK
Confirmed by Patriot that these are designed for Sandy Bridge but if 1866mhz are not good maybe I would go for the 1600mhz instead :)

    Thanks for the info Radier.

Haha, good thing I got just about the most expensive DDR3-1600mhz money can buy! This stuff screams though, blowing away all those review benchmarks for DDR3-1600mhz. Mushkin Redline 991999 FTW! I've never seen a Sandy Bridge mobo support higher than 1600mhz without OC settings, so if you like plug and play then stick to 1600mhz (if your mobo supports it non-OC).

From those reviews though, I come away reading that if you want the fastest there is, then buy the fastest ram if money is no object. Don't expect to see gains accross the board on Sandy Bridge with the fastest ram, but you will see significant benefit for specific application use.
