Question SATA ports falling / dead

Three of my SATA ports are falling however they come backafter a re-boot?
Had this MoBo for about two years I had made no hardwarechanges but now when I attempt to write large files (Ghost images) about halfway through writing the SATA stops seeing the drive, if I re-boot then this drive comesback as seen in my file explorer. At first I thought it was the drive so Ibought a new WD drive, however I still continue to get the same issue whenwriting large files over 20Gb, this issue occurs no matter which of the otherthree SATA ports I connect the drive to, I have not (and will not) tried connectingthe drive to SATA port 0 as this is where I have my Windows-7 system drive connectedand Iím afraid of damaging this port.

Do I have to buy a new MoBo, or is there a fix such as installinga PCI card with onboard SATA?
My MoBo is the Asrock K10N78

Any advice would be appreciated indeed.
