Default Will a Seasonic X850 power supply support Z68 Fata1ly Professessional Pro 3?

I am a complete newbie but I have been educating myself in building a computer. I have almost all the parts except power supply and cpu cooler. I plan on modest overclocking for now. My question is will a seasonic X850 be compatible to this board as far as crossfire. I read that most 850w will require an adapter to plug two video cards. Since I have 3 bare hdds, 1 bare sdd, blu ray drive, i7-2600k and one HD6950, will Z68 provide all the cables. I also have a bottom Power supply full tower case. Will I need to buy extended cpu plug? Thanks!

i think you need a psu with four six pin or four six pin plus 2 pin so you can use 8 pin if needed gpu plugs, does it show you the connectors on the seasonic? it should say crossfire or sli ready on the psu specs, and you will be fine with the cpu power plug,it will reach

Thumbs up Re: Will a Seasonic X850 power supply support Z68 Fata1ly Professessional Pro 3?

If you have a large, full tower case, you might need to buy an extended wiring kit for the 24-pin and/or EPS_12v cables for your bottom mounted power supply. My Seasonic X650 psu works fine with the standard cables in my CM 690 case with a bottom mounting setup. My X650 provides four 6/8 pin pci-e cables for a dual card setup.

A web search using: seasonic x850 review
will provide links to reviews where they detail the cable setup and cable lenghts.
JonnyGuru, HardOCP, PCPER, and HardwareSecrets provide the best and most thorough psu reviews where they perform very demanding tests to verify that a power supply meets and exceeds specifications and provides clean stable power at high temperatures. They also include detailed information about psu noise at all power levels.

HARDOCP - Seasonic Platinum-1000 1000W Power Supply - Seasonic Platinum-1000 1 Kilowatt Power Supply Review has the first review that I've found for this recently released psu.
Seasonic makes some of the best (and quietest) power supplies on the market.

You might be able to find some excellent sale prices with the upcoming holiday season sales.

Great power supply choice, probably the best on the market. I read a review that said the PS could handle 1,000 watts. They tested to 1,000 but did not have the equipment to go beyond 1,000 watts. I use the Seasonic with a Asrock Fatality Gen3 board. No problems with the 8 pin GPU's.

    12,000 watts? Maybe 1200 watts.
Top tier power supplies can often deliver 20 - 22% more power than their rated capacity and still be within electrical specifications.
With any quality power supply, it's best not to exceed 80% of the rated capacity when running with high current loads for an extended time period.
