    Default Losing Internet Connection

Hello there. I just installed a new Z68 Extreme 4. My configuration includes a Corei7 2600k and 8 gigs Corsair Vengence memory. Ever since installing Windows 7 64 bit and starting to use the computer the internet connection has not been stable. It will go down (and a little yellow exclaimation mark appears on the system tray internet icon) intermittently, but always while downloading something (from Norton updates to Windows updates to video files). There is nothing wrong with the actual internet connection. My other computer remains connected, and this problem never appeared until starting to use this new build. The computer is hard wired to my router. When it happens, sometimes the connection can repair itself if I left click the icon and select "repair" (at those times it tells me the connection is turned off). Most of the time when it happens, the only way to fix it is to restart the computer.
All drivers and BIOS are the latest.
The exact same problem happens on the other OS of the dual boot system (also Windows 7 64 bit).
In the device manager, it says the Broadcom internet device is functioning correctly (although I haven't checked it when the connection is down).
    How can I troubleshoot this?
    Thanks guys

I've tried reinstalling Windows twice. It keeps happening and it's not the internet connection itself. I think I need to RMA for the second time in a row. Obviously no one has any idea of any simple solutions, and I've tried everything I can think of.

    Patience!!
Thursday was a holiday in the USA (Thanksgiving).
Send a PM to ASRock TSD - Emily, include a link to your thread and ask her to take a look.
Another option is to contact ASRock tech support by going to their web site.

Have you tried booting to safe mode with network support to see it the problem remains?
Have you tried any web searches to see if this is a problem that others have had and if they found a solution.
You might find some answers searching with: asrock Z68 drop "internet connection"

Thanks for the suggestions. Sorry for the impatience, but I've been trying to get this build to work properly since last June. I was hoping this RMA would do the trick. But I've never seen this problem before.

When the internet connection is lost when booted into the full OS, it is still lost booting into safe mood. Network repair does not work in safe mode. Once I booted into safe mode with networking on and working, I thought the problem was gone. I got the internet downloading fast. Fifteen minutes later, the connection was lost as usual.

I will try to figure out how to PM Emily as suggested. Thanks again for your ideas.

Click on Settings in the upper right corner of this (or any) forum web page.
Click on Send New Message in the list of options on the left side of the Settings page.
Fill in the title of the PM, the receiver's name and then type your message.
You can Preview your message and when you are ready, submit the PM.

The recipient's name must match exactly. As you start typing the name, a box will appear with matching names.

I tried to post a PM to Emily, but when I submitted the screen flashed back to the original settings area and there are no messages in my sent folder. I'll recreate the message here:

    1.Installed RMA'd Z68 Extreme 4 Motherboard.
2.Installed Windows 7 64 bit Home and professional on two separate
    SSD drives
3.Installed Drivers from Extreme 4 installation DVD
    4.Windows 7 set up internet
5.Connection will be lost intermittently on both operating systems. Connection is not lost downstairs on wirelessly connected computer. Unplugging modem does not effect

problem. Sometimes Windows can diagnose the problem and fix it by resetting "local area connection adapter." Other times windows cannot diagnose the problem at all. The

diagnosis dialogue box will run for a long time. If you wait until it's finished, it will just say "DNS Server not availble." Only a restart will fix the problem. But only

temporarily; the connection continues to be lost intermittently, it seems always during downloads but maybe that's the only time I notice it.
    5. Tried reinstalling Windows but the same problem happens again.
    6. Problem continues to happen even when all drivers and Operating System itself are updated to current versions.
    7. When it happens and Windows cannot diagnose the problem, after restart the internet does not automatically turn on. The connection still has to be repaired and at that

point it can be diagnosed and fixed by resetting the "Local Area connection Adapter."
    8. When it happens, the program that was using the internet freezes as well until the computer is restarted
    9. when the computer is restarted at such time, "shutting down" takes forever. Eventually I just press the reset button, which works. Twice I have had the computer go into

blue screen while trying to shut do at such times.
    10. Happens also while in safe mode with networking
    11. It happens on the OS I tried to load up with programs (Norton 2012, Office, Firefox, etc.) as well as the OS I kept clean except for trying to upgrade drivers. It can't be

a software conflict. And it happened right out of the box and happens in safe mode. It seems to be related to high traffic, have not seen it happen while just sitting, only

    when downloading.

Here is the Blue Screen info from the times the computer was trying to shut down after the problem happened:

Oh yeah!!! I resemble that remark
Hopefully you'll be able to solve the problem now without needing an RMA.
    Good luck, I'll be watching....

gordon--I'll offer a solution to a problem relating to internet connection with my ASRock Z68 Pro3 MB. I was having a problem with the internet connection but only at boot up (I would get the yellow exclamation point). Did a search using google and found the problem was the "bonjour service" running automatically at startup. This service was installed by my Photoshop CS3. I changed the bonjour service to "delayed start" and it solved my problem (No internet access in Windows 7 RC)

Just thought I would offer this as your problem sounds a little bit different. Hope you find the solution!
