I'm real happy with my 4100. It fits my needs perfectly.
I originally intended using an FX in my HTPC but because of all the negative reviews I decided to run the Calisto 555 BE. Unfortunately when I tried turning on all 4 cores the temps skyrocketed. Couldn't run Prime95 for more than 3 min. before the CPU was hitting 70C.
Since the FX-4100 was a 95W dual core with decent stock clock speeds I thought I'd give it a try.
    So far:
    ● It seems to boot faster.
    ● Runs much cooler - 35C idle and 58C when running P95.
    ● Cuts TS (HD Movie) files slightly faster?
    ● Accesses files much faster - I have My Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, etc. on a seperate partition.
For some reason the 555 would take 5 or 6 sec. to access a file there - yes, they were indexed. The FX does it immediately.

Not interested in ocing since cooling is an issue in the HTPC case.

Finally figured out WTF was going on. This mb memory controller is whacky. In the manual timing area it was throwing random numbers after the standard timing numbers, in my case 9-10-9-28 1T 39. Below them are various inputs and they were all out of whack. Up above the timing areas it was showing for the different freq's via jedecs. I compared the 1866 jedec settings with what I had and they weren't even close. I manually entered them and whalla ! All the Asus board's I have used never had this issue. Just set the timings and volts and all was well.

In short, manual dram timing section was wrong. The intial timings 9-10-9-28 1T @ 1.5v were fine but the rest of the inputs below were not even close. I finally noticed this when starring at what was being reported above under the 1866 jedec. I matched those numbers at whalla, cpu is now oc'ing just fine and currently setting at 4.5 stable, tested 8 hrs of prime95

When using a PATA>SATA converter, your PATA drive must always be on MASTER mode.
