Default 970 extreme3 , using IDE to SATA adapter for IDE dvd drive

Bios does not recognize the drive. I have tried different sata header connections 2,3,4,5 and still does not see it.
IDE to SATA adapter has 1 switch, it is set to >IDE to Sata> adapter light is on, Sata cable connected to adapter and to the mb.
Is there something in the configuration storage section that needs to be changed? I used a older Sata cable, should I use the one in that came with the mb?

    Thanks in advance

    Ryan

    Hi RyanJ

In all liklihood no IDE to SATA adapter will work with any onboard SATA ports...These IDE to SATA adapters might work on a standalone SATA/RAID card but from experience they simply do not work at all with most onboard chupset based mobo SATA/RAID controllers...way back to VIA VT8237 SATA controllers, nForce SATA controllers and all earlier versions of onboard Intel SATA/RAID controllers.

The $$ for SATA mechanical drives is rumored to be making a turn in the other direction since the manufacturers factories are back in business coupled with the fact that folks are delaying if possible any HD purchases until the prices return to normal levels...

    Hey Ryan
I take it your old burner was an IDE and that's why you tried using the adapter...When your SATA burner arrives pay attention to what SATA port you plug it into albeit a native Intel one or perhaps a 3rd party SATA port.
How did you make out in uninstalling both graphics cards and letting windows re-install them so that you could connect your flat screen to the top card for Crossfire as opposed to last I knew you had it connected to the bottom card...

    Cheers

Uninstalling and reinstalling the cards worked. Monitor is now connected to PCIE2 as is should be. Yeah!

I'm using a cheap IDE to SATA converter with my Lite-on IDE burner with this mobo. Works like a charm.

So far no complaints at stock settings but having a bear of time OC'ing it on this mb. It seems any clock settings above 4.0 I get a black screen or barely boot to win7 and then a bsod. I sent in a support request to asrock with some questions about dram changing to odd freq's, bus dropping severely. It is either the MB/Bios or power supply issue. I ordered a new psu, going from 500 to 800. My 500w psu is about 3 years old and maybe the compacitor aging is more severe then I thought. Will have this new psu and a new H80 liquid cooler up and running by Friday and will report back.
