Default Windows 7 64bit can't see Hard Drive during install

    Hello,

I recently bought a computer system and I'm trying to install 64 bit Win7 on it, but I'm having problems. When I reach the stage when you should be able to choose a hard drive to install the OS, I'm getting the error message that there is no disk found and I should try inserting a driver cd/usb. I've tried installing the drivers provided from the motherboard and some additional ones I found online, but with no luck. I do have enabled AHCI mode in Bios and I can see the hard disk there. Also I tried swapping the power supply cables.

    My system is:

    Asrock A75 Pro4 A75 Socket FM1 7.1 Channel
    HDAudio
    ATX Motherboard
    Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Barracuda
    HardDrive
    7200RPM 16MB Cache
    Corsair 600W CX Series V2 PSU - 6x SATA 2x PCI-E
    Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1333MHz XMS3 Memory Kit CL9 1.5V unbuffered
    AMD Athlon II X4 631 2.6GHz Socket FM1 4MB L2 Cache Retail Boxed Processor

where are you plugging in your hdd, what port? sata3 or sata2 port? if sata3 make sure sata3 is enabled in the bios, you can try plugging hdd into another pc and format it to ntfs and assign a hdd letter to it then swap back into a75 pc and try installing win7

Kind of had the same thing on a new system just built with my son. Pulled the hard drive (oem) out and hooked up to my system, formatted it,back in to new computer and windows disc now able to install. Worth a shot .
