Default Asrock Fatal1ty Z68 IDE connector

Has anyone gotten the IDE connector to work with two optical drives?I have like six different IDE drives and no combination works properly.Either the board will recognize one drive only or if it does recognize two optical drives it forces one to run in PIO mode only.I bought the board for the ATA133 feature and can't get it to work properly. Thanks

Have you properly configured the Master and Slave jumper block pins on the back of each optical drive?
Have you tried testing with a different IDE cable?
The master drive is connected to the middle IDE connector and the slave drive is connected to the IDE connector at the end of the cable.
The motherboard IDE cable connector is usually farthest away from the middle IDE connector.

Make sure that the #1 pin on each connector lines up with the #1 pin on each drive and the motherboard.

Well I tried everything and came to the conclusion that WinXP-pro sp2 might be the problem. In bios everthing is detected properly but when it boots into XP in device manager things are not detected correctly. The Primary IDE channel driver is Microsoft and 10 years old. I don't think it can read the new VIA VT6330 chip, which is also a FireWire (IEEE1394) controller. I made a Inf. floppy to try to find a better driver but there is like 15 choices and I got lost.
Anybody know if there updated drivers for this chip?
