Default ASRock Extreme 4-M VT-d Support?

    Extreme4-M, so the microATX board.

The reason why I ask is that the Extreme 4 has it in the manual (shown here: http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...d-support.html)

But the Extreme 4-m manual makes no mention of VT-d. It shows VT-d support as "unsupported" in the screenshot. So is it true it lacks Vt-d?

VT-d support depends on CPU not motherboard.

Check out http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...d-support.html where ASRock TSD - Emily states that there was an omission in the user manual. Send a PM to her, include a link to this thread and ask her to confirm that the user manual for your motherboard does support VT-d with non "K" Ivy Bridge processors.

I hear this over and over and over and over again, but here's a clear case with the Z68 boards:

Z68 Sandybridge Motherboard VT-d Test Matrix: Which Mobo/CPU combo works with VMware ESXi 4.1U1 VMDirectPath feature? | Tinkertry

The ASRock and MSI boards worked, but not the Asus and Gigabyte boards. If its an option in the BIOS it can be disabled by default or removed and disabled. What I'm saying is even if the north bridge chip has the working components to support it, if its not enabled or not in BIOS, I would be concerned. You never know if the manufacturer disables it by default or enables it. And since 99.999% of people don't buy consumer boards for VT-d, I would like clarification.

    Dear dmo580,

Z77 Extreme4-M supports Intel Vt-d function when installing the CPU supports Vt-d tech.

We will modify Z77 Extreme4-M user manual.

    Thanks!

    Have a nice day
