    Default ASRock Pro4 S/PDIF issue

I have been using the S/PDIF slot for audio for some time. recently it disappeared on me. I still have it plugged in and have reset the PC twice. I can no longer go into the settings and make it my default audio device because it is not shown there. Please help as to refresh this to make it work again.

If you unplug the Toslink cable from the rear IO panel, can you see the red glow of light from the laser diode in that port? If not, then the laser diode died.

The SPDIF output may be not working for several reasons. The SPDIF output could be changed in the BIOS to HDMI. The audio chip driver on your board may be corrupted, uninstall it and install it again. Check in Device Manager, under Sound... controllers, and see what the status of the Realtek HD Audio device is.
