    Metal it is !
    I received finally, from the rack case manufacturer, the proper thread size brass standoffs for the MB mounting plate.

    They were just a bit high, as the i/o shield was a culprit in trying to get the MB connectors to pass thru nicely.But some minor angling got the MB in there. I feared the shorter standoffs they sent along with these were too short and when the MB flexed it touched metal.
    Seems that the grounding issue needs to be followed as per MB manufacturers, they like to have multi paths for grounds, just basically a nice backup redundancy.
