Default Do I need to connect both ATX 12v connectors?

I have ASRock X79 Extreme9 motherboard. It has 2 ATX 12v power Connectors. Do I need to connect power to both or just 1? The manual just says "Please connect an ATX 12V power supply to this connector." It doesn't say to both connectors.

I'm reading in the many reviews online that the second 8-pin EPS12V is provided for stability at high overclocks and not needed at stock.

I'm having a problem with computer freezes and I tried connecting the other connection but it didn't solve the problem. It mainly happen when I browse the internet with firefox for some reason. I thought maybe my cpu isn't getting enough power. (I don't overclock)

That's interesting as I too was having problems where FF would freeze my system.

Here, hitting CTRL ALT DEL would unfreeze it once the C+A+D screen appeared.

I also found that not using/employing any power saving features would stop this behavior. ie: forcing my 8150 to run at its rated 3.6 and not letting it idle down

Happily, for reasons unbeknownst to me that has now remedied itself and FF is fine now with my proc idling down to a lower speed.

This all occured while still on FF 17.0 so I know it wasn't the FF 17.0.1 update, and I hadn't applied any mb updates either during that time, only std MS updates. Just weird.

Hmmm, now that I reflect I wonder if it might have been caused by one of the FF extensions installed here.

The first thing I would do is to see if using a different browser has the same problem.
FireFox is my main browser, but I also have IE 9 and Chrome installed.
A web search using: firefox safe mode should help you diagnose any FireFox problems.

I know it wasn't just firefox doing this because It happend once when I opened Directory Opus. But it mainly happens with firefox.
It's hard to pinpoint the problem because it's hard to make it happen when I want to. I just turned off hyperthreading in the bios and so far it hasn't froze on me yet.

Well, it just froze again. I guess hyperthreading turned off didn't work.
When It does freeze it's a hard freeze. Numberlock won't turn off or on the whole computer just locks. have to hit the reset button. And when I do it waits for 4 seconds before it turns off then it waits 2 seconds before it restarts itself. very wierd. I ran memory tests and video card tests which all passed. I'm thinking it's something with the sata connectors because what ever hard drives I have connected every so often make a wierd noise also. I do have all 12 sata ports used. And I know it's not something with windows being corupt because It's brand new and fresh install when It happens. Sometimes the screen will be all blue (but not the windows bsod) othertimes it will be white with black stipes when it freezes.

Is it possible the motherboard doesn't support the video card I have? It's XFX Double D FX-785A-CDFC Radeon HD 7850 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
