Nope, this is my only graphics card. I was able to boot with it in the PCI-e slot while it was unpowered once and got the drivers installed. Other than that, nothing but error code 93.

And I'm not sure I'm confident enough to bench it, based on the descriptions I've read of the process. Might just have to take it in to get serviced, I suppose. Argh.

And sorry if my priority's are wonky. The reason I'm focused on the graphics card is because it seems - to my untrained eye, at least - like the main problem. I can boot if I unplug the USB devices most of the time. However, I can't do anything with the graphics card at all.

I appreciate the help/guidance. Thanks again.

Uh, while it sat in the slot "unpowered' as you referred your bios at that point discovered it. The PCI-e slots are self-powered but do not provide enough power for higher end graphics cards thus the needed aux power 6 or 8 pin also.

With the computer off and power disconnected from the wall, pull the card and after pulling the card CLEAR your bios/cmos. Reapply power, boot, reenter bios and set to Defaults save and reboot, on reboot enter bios make change to onboard graphics and whatever else you need to change, Save and reboot.

    Post back the results.

We'll get to re-installing the card soon enough I hope depending on the results you see afterwards.

Ah, I understand. So, I'm following your instructions...

    (time passes)

Ok. I removed the card, reset to default, and have done 3 restarts with the USB keyboard and mouse plugged in their respective ports. No problems. Thanks for the guidance, I appreciate it. ;)

    Now what?

The scenarios you previously described concerning booting to/with error 93 are now a thing of the past then, correct?

Meaning you can't "force' it to throw a 93 by any of ways you previously could? Excepting of course that the graphic card is not installed at this point obviously. No combination of usb will error on 93?

Did you plug in two 6-pin pci-e power cables from your power supply to your video card?

Can you test your video card in another system?
Can you borrow a power supply to test with?

Good morning all, hope you're well and ready for the holidays.

So, after following wardog's advice, the error 93 still kicks in but much less frequently. In fact, I think it's avoidable if I wait a minute or do between reboots.

Also, I gave up on the card last night and figured I'd try again this morning. It worked! I think I did everything exactly as I'd been doing it before - plugging the two PCI-e cables in, making sure it was snugly seated, etc. I did take special care to re-attach all the leads to make sure they were in as firmly as possible, so that may have helped.

In any event, it's working and I'm really grateful for your help. Am a little nervous about closing the case up, in case this is a fluke. Ha/eek.

Thanks again, have a great holiday!

    Mobo: ASrock 79 extreme 4
    CPU: inte i7 3820 @3.6 GHz
    Power supply: Corsair CX600

Hello, I just assembled my new desktop and are getting the 93 error code. I have tried to remove as much as possible of the inside of the content to see if I could pull off another error code, but always 93. I have cleared BIOS multiple times, checked for missing wires and things like that for ages. I really can't get anything but the 93 error code. I also tried with everything plugged in to see if I could get something up on a screen (graphic card GTX 670), but that didn't work either.

It seems like I have a huge fan of error code 93 on my floor :/

Does anyone have any ideas of what to do?

    Thanks
    /Odder
