    Hi Parsec,
I thank you so much for the infomative reply. I'm going to stop messing with this software after what you have experienced. Just doesn't sound it's worth the effort and It has alway been like this when it comes to Creative labs their software, & extremly poor support. (by the way their hardware is a different animal. I paid 399.00 for the AWE32 which I loved to death.)

You're welcome, and you brought up a good point, it is Creative Labs that is the source of the THX TruStudio software. This is what it looks like, since I can run it but it doesn't work:

THX TruStudio not finding compatible sound device on Z77 Extreme 4-thxtrustudio-png

The upside down triangle in the upper left corner has a few options, but nothing like a control panel, just selecting devices, restore defaults. It also offers an auto-update program for new versions of the software, but I didn't try it. The upgrade version is $24.99. Oh gee whiz!

BTW, nice PC, but I was surprised by this:

    Core #1
    Speed 1149804.3 MHz
    Multiplier 48.0

The core speed is 1,149,804.3 MHz, or 1.1498043 THz (Tera-Hz), or a bit over 1.1 Trillion Hz!

I'm just putting along at 4.4GHz, or 4.4 Billion Hz, so that is quite an OC you have there...

I tried it and uninstalled it in less than a day. You aren't missing anything.

Well that is a bit of a surprise, I don't think you mentioned you were using the Pro version.

Did you purchase that from Creative? Usually, issues with THX TruStudio Pro, as with any software not supplied by the mother board manufacture, should be dealt with by the source of the software, Creative in this case. OTOH, if you have the same results with the Pro version that happens with the standard (?) version, and assuming that is caused by the board (internal BIOS setting, etc), then it is an ASRock issue.

The current behavior of the THX TruStudio software as supplied by ASRock, meaning it does not work, has not yet been addressed by ASRock. I hope that ASRock will make a statement about this (Emily?) so we at least have some idea what is going on.

I'm sorry parsec, I got kind-0-screwed up a little. I had that conversation with profJim & thought you were following that conversation & completely left you out of what we were talking about. My mistake. To answere your questions no i did not purchase it from creative. it came on my ASRock CD in the extras directory. It has a activation key with it. Plus:

Holy Schlitz, I hear you now! I better dig out my board's disk and see what's on it. If I was using half of all that software, and it suddenly stopped working, I'd be rather annoyed too! BTW, just to be clear, is that what happened? Or did you install it recently and it did not work?

It's strange that even the super simple TruStudio software that my board has (had?) just stopped working at some point. How did that happen? The Realtek audio driver for my board for Windows 7 is dated 3/8/2012, and I know the TruStudio program worked after that driver was installed. So I thought it was a BIOS update that somehow disabled it. Unless the darn program is accessing the Internet and receiving orders from somewhere to not run.

The last BIOS update for your board was 7/5/2012, and the last Realtek audio driver update was 8/2/2011. That tells me it can't be be the driver or BIOS that is causing it to not work. The PC I'm on now does not have TruStudio installed, but here's an experiment for you, disconnect your network cable from the PC and try to run TruStudio, etc., and see what happens. It may still fail, if it is coded to fail if it can't reach the mother ship... But if it works, then we'll know how it "knows" to shut itself off.

And for the record, my ASRock board has "THX Tru Studio" written on it, along with a few other trademark names of software. I'll bet your's does too. Can't make that disappear, can they.

But then there is always the disclaimer: Information published on ASRock.com is subject to change without notice.

Maybe the included TruStudio Software is a time limited "demo" of sorts whose main function was to get users to pay Creative Labs to upgrade to the PRO version.

Well guys during the installation process of THX TruStudio Pro (which has an activation key), it gets almost finished; (90%) then it suddenly stops and tells me it can't find any valid sound hardware to use with it and it uninstalls. However, THX TruStudio (not Pro) installs & works just fine. Which lets me talken to myself. Oh yeah Parsec, I have tried the disconnected method also & nothing is different.

That's ironic, we can't get the non-Pro version to work, but that version works for you.

My removing the network cable test was a long shot, but you might be surprised by how much software checks the manufacture's web site for various reasons.

Now that I understand that you have the Pro software, I tend to agree with Prof. Jim, that it is likely a limited time trial offering, that has expired. My ASR board has a different software package that can be used for a while on a trial basis.

All that Creative software is not listed on your board's download page... Hmm, I better check my board's disk for any surprise-ware (that might not work), but do I have an optical drive connected somewhere...
