Default asrock z75 pro3 secure boot disable.

    Hi All,

Very confused with this feature, cant find anywhere that it is mentioned in the manuals...
Do any asrock boards have secure boot (dont want it)
So do these boards have secure boot (that can be turned off)?
Can these boards boot into legacy bios mode?

    Thanks

The Secure Boot option is available in the UEFI/BIOS of most if not all ASRock boards. It is disabled by default. Nothing compels you to use it.

The true option for choosing between legacy BIOS mode boot/startup or true UEFI startup, is the CSM option. That is set to enabled by default, which provides legacy BIOS mode booting.

You can UEFI start/boot without Secure Boot enabled. Secure Boot is related to the CSM option, since you cannot Secure Boot in legacy BIOS mode, so some UEFI's will set CSM to disabled when Secure Boot is enabled. That is the confusing thing, and is not explained at all in the manual, etc, as you mentioned.

So if I understood correctly other operating systems that dont support UEFI that well (win xp, vista ,linux etc etc) will be able to boot by default?

    Thanks for your help!

Yes, you will have no problem with an OS that does not support UEFI booting.

The reality is, although the UEFI firmware has been used on mother boards for about three years, the only part of it that has been functional is the GUI-type interface that UEFI firmware supports.

Most of the first boards using UEFI firmware do not have an option to enable UEFI booting, you could not do it if you wanted to. Some mother boards made by Intel have had the UEFI boot option available for about five years.

No mother board manufactures are forcing the user to UEFI boot, and most of them have only recently added the option to do so. IMO, most users (including myself) were not aware of true UEFI booting until quite recently. We've all been legacy BIOS booting with our UEFI firmware for several years, without really knowing it.
