Default AsRock 775Dual-VSTA and Nvidia GT220

Hi to all, a friend of mine have just given to me this motherboard AsRock 775Dual-VSTA. Now i want to install on it a Nvidia GT220, but tha GPU card seems not to work good on this motherboard. I have tried to install the latest Nvidia driver and to update to the latest Matherboard BIOS, but nothing changes, the screen flicking and the video are always blocking, just like when you do a fresh windows XP and the GPU are running with the VGA compatible driver. The GPU works good on the other pc that i have tested, so seems to be an issue between this GPU and the motherboard.

Some advice? How i can fix that?

    Hi!

It looks like you have an older power supply (circa 2007) and that it is a very cheap model.
Can you borrow and test with a more powerful power supply?
Cheap power supplies often fail before they are four or five years old.

GeForce GT 220 | Specifications | GeForce states:
    • Minimum System Power Requirement (W): 300 W

Many cheap power supplies have trouble delivering one half of their rated power when new and it is worse as they get older.
See if you can borrow a quality, name brand power supply to test with, such as an Antec EA500 or a similar Seasonic or Corsair unit.

With this same PSU i have successfully get working the same GT220 on a Gigabyte motherboard without any trouble, so i don't think that the PSU is the problem. Any advice?

Page 10 in your mobo user manual has a partial list of supported pci-e video cards.
ASRock > Synchronizing Web Database has an expanded list of supported video cards for your motherboard.

The GT 220 is not in either of these lists.
You best bet right now is to send a private message to ASRock TSD - Emily, include a link to this thread and ask for her help.
She might have some undocumented information that might let you use your video card with your motherboard.

The list is not complete, as of course ASRock can't test all the VGA on the market :)

I have send to her a message and i hope that she can help me. By the way thanks to you too for your time trying to help me.

    Have a nice day!

    You're welcome.
Keep in mind that your ASRock and Gigabyte motherboards use different chipsets and what hardware works in one system might not be compatible in the other.
