Default Sound problem with 970 pro3

I hope you guys are in the know because i'm struggling.
I've installed win7x64 on a ssd with a gt210 connected with hdmi on my tv
I get the sound from the hdmi but not from the regular analog speakers (it's plugged on the rear green input)
Could it be because i've use my hdmi monitor during the install without pc speakers connected indeed i don't know

for the life of me i can't figure out what's wrong after 10 days of trials.
    the board:
    970 pro3 (rev1 i believe, i'll recheck later)
    uefi: 1.50
    OS: win7 x64 (updated: yes)
realtek drivers version: 6.0.1.6873 (from 2013..the latest i believe)
when i lookup the properties in the device manager for realtek HD audio it says Location: 0 (internal hd audio bus), i'm unsure if that's normal
Whenever i connect a plug in the speakers or mic in i get nothing (no message at all)
I have followed the instructions on this page (post n2):
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/w...8-fd5aa58296ed
    I'd need some guidance

Right click the speaker icon in the systray ... click Playback devices, you should then see something like "Speakers" and some HDMI output for your monitor. Select the speakers, set default, and your sound should've been switched over.

I tried this already but no luck. It must have something to do with the realtek hda drivers or eufi (bios) version i believe

For example the internal ethernet Realtek controller is on location PCI bus 5, device 0, function 0
whereas the Realtek internal high Def Audio on "location 0"
so it's clearly not detected somehow

    one other odd thing:

If i connect my front panel with the hda plug / activate "front panel audio" in the bios then i do get the "speakers icon front panel" , still no sound.
If i do not connect this plug i simply get nothing (no icon and obviously no sound) Only the Digital Audio output (i don't have adequate speakers for this anyway)

I retried today and still no freaking sound what i did:

    - connect the front panel with the AC97 plug on the motherboard (if i connect the hda plug i get no speakers, mic in,line icon (greyed out), only digital)
    - connect standard stereo speakers on the front panel and rear panel... just in case
    - disable all sound effects in the properties of the speakers
    - enable realtek HDA in the bios (set to auto)
    - enable front panel in the bios (set to auto)
    - making sure the volume is at 100% with the windows audio mixer / realtek audio manager
    - choosing 16 bits/44khz (cd quality, not higher) because i'm not sure the speakers can handle higher

So where exactly did i miss something because i don't see here

If you're not using HDAudio but AC97 then you shouldn't enable HDAudio in the bios, the two are not compatible (which btw I've had with my old PQ5 PRO, just wouldn't work with HDAudio at all, had to use AC97).

I'm aware of the AC'97 Vs HDA conflict see here: Intel High Definition Audio - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Problem is with the hda plug i get nothing. I have rolled back the driver to the one provided by asrock (which is a bit old) on the cd without much luck

Any noise if you boot from a live Linux CD (or Flash drive)?
(Linux may or may not have a driver in any case, but at least you could try.)
