Default ASRock Z87 Extreme6 Can't Triple Monitor on DVI HDMI DisplayPort

I am trying to set up three monitors using onboard graphics and the DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort connectors. I am using three identical DVI input monitors with appropriate adapter cables.

I have installed the VGA drivers provided on the CD. All three monitors show up in the control panel as seen in attached screen shot. But I can't enable more than two at one time.

According to ASRocks specifications I am supposed to be able to use all three. Am I doing something wrong?

Is IGPU Multi-Monitor enabled in the BIOS Chipset Configuration screen?

Thanks for the reply, that was a good idea to try, I enabled it but get the same result.

FYI, I do not have any external graphics cards installed (the manual says that's what IGPU setting is used for).

I am able to get any combination of two of the three ports to work at the same time, just not all three.

Played around with BIOS some more, changed below with no effect on my problem:

    - Set "Primary Graphics Adapter" to "Onboard" instead of "PCI Express"

    - Changed "Share Memory" (memory allocated to onboard graphics) from "Auto" to the max of "1024 MB"

Have you tried the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel? If you have the Intel video driver installed, it should be available. That is how Intel recommends setting up multiple monitors. I use the Displayport output on a single monitor and it works fine.

The only other potential glitch would be if you had the HDMI In port active and configured to act as a pass-through for another video source.

So to get this straight, are you trying to connect three monitors where each of the three monitors is connected on its HDMI or DVI input, and one of these three connections from your PC is through the displayport connection on the board and a displayport to HDMI/DVI adapter to the monitor? That might be the cause of your problem (might be, not saying it is).

With my old ATI 5870 I can drive 3 monitors, but the GPU only has the clocks available to sync two, and you need this ability to "sync" for the DVI and HDMI connections (displayport doesn't need it). So that means I can connect two of the monitors through DVI and HDMI, but the 3rd has to use a displayport connection, either direct with a displayport to displayport cable, or with an active (powered, unlike passive versions) displayport to HDMI/DVI adapter which can provide the required sync for that 3rd monitor.

I think your problem might be that you're using a (much cheaper) passive displayport to DVI adapter, and this might not be providing the clock you need to be able to sync the 3rd monitor.

Bingo! This was the problem. Would be nice if ASRock added this to their documentation (I made a wasted purchase of a passive DisplayPort to DVI cable).

I have since bought an active adapter for $25 from Amazon and used it with my old DVI cable and I'm in business. Three monitors, no card or associated heat in my silent-PC build, I'm a happy camper.

Here is the adapter I purchased for those who may be interested:

    Appreciate all the help!

Not sure if anyone is still looking at this... but I will give it a try. I have the FM2A88X Extreme6+ and am trying to run triple monitors. I have HDMI out, DVI out and Display Port to HDMI. I can use any combination of dual monitors with the catalyst center but can't run all 3. When trying to extend the display to the 3rd monitors, it makes me disable one of the others. Any ideas? I assume that if all the monitors work at some point with each connection, then it isn't a cable or adapter issue? Help! LOL Thanks!

See my post directly above yours, I had the same problem, could only do 2/3 of the monitors at once. Buy that "active" adapter on Amazon, currently $17.99.

I ordered one right after I left the message. I found a couple other forums with the same solution. It seems so strange though because the adapter DOES work when I am running 2 monitors. We shall see! Thanks for your reply! :-)
