Default ASRock 880G Pro3 Beta Bios Support for FX-8320 Vishera

I am to the point where I would like to get a bit more out of my current system and I see that the latest bios version 1.4 does not support above the FX-8150 CPU. Would there happen to be a beta version not listed on the web site or is this the final bios/cpu support update?

    Thanks!

    ..Joe

If you are talking about the fx-8230, just send ASRock a email asking for a beta if it's possible.

There is no beta on the site and this is the only place to get one.

    ^^Good suggestion.
You might get a faster response if you send PM (private message) to ASRock TSD - Emily, include a link to this thread and she might be able to give you a link to a beta bios if one is available.

Welcome to the forum Joe L.
Many thanks for the info Jim! I'll shoot off a pm shortly.

And thanks for the welcome. I've been building my own pcs since '90 so maybe I can contribute here and there.

    Hi Joe,

Have you had any luck in your quest?
I'm also having the same problem and would pretty much appreciate to know if there is any solution.

    Cheers,

Sorry Riccardo. The manufacturer responded that an update would not be made available.

    Hi Joe,

    Thanks for your quick response.
That's what I was already expecting, I'm afraid.
Just hopped that there would have been anything I was missing.

Although the CPU isn't officially supported it still works. Just as long as you have the latest bios installed the FX 8320 will work just like it should.

AMD Radeon HD 6850 video card benchmark result - AMD FX-8320,ASRock 880G Pro3

Check it out... That benchmark result shows an FX 8320 running on an Asrock 880g Pro3 motherboard. There's your proof that it works. There is a new bios update actually that I recommend installing with the FX 8320 here's the link to that ASRock 880G Pro3 1.42 (Direct From ASRock Support) Unreleased [Attatched]

That new unreleased bios update improves stability on all FX processors. The FX 8320 will work without that bios update but it might have throttling issues without it. If you already have an FX 8120 or FX 8150 then just keep it and overclock. I have this motherboard and an FX 8120. I have my FX 8120 overclocked to 4GHz and it's more than enough for me personally. I couldn't overclock beyond 4GHz due to the 4+1 phase VRM but I think that's decent given the fact that the motherboard only cost me $50.

    Hey Ricky!!!!

You've just made my day quite a bit happier!!!
As a matter of fact I don't have yet any FX CPU running on that board, I'm still with my good old Phenom II X4 925, so I was looking into it and was considering now to purchase the FX-8150, but actually the FX-8320 is some 25+ cheaper where I live, so I guess that will defenitely be my next CPU!

Thanks a lot for that tip.

    Cheers,

You're welcome. Don't forget to update your bios to at least version 1.40 before installing the CPU to enable AM3+ support. If your bios isn't updated to at least version 1.40 then the system will not boot with that CPU. I recommend you update to the bios that I sent you a link to though. Please let us know how it goes if you decide to get the CPU.
