    Default Windows Backup?

Do not know if the utilities that come with this ASRock Z7774 Exrtreme board conflicts with Windows Backup. But when I try to launch it, it never does. Just sits there.
Had same issue with Java. Had to reboot in diagnostic mode to install Java.
Anyone else have strange issues with Windows Backup for Win764bit Ult SP1?

    I have updated my profile.
I also do not see anything in the event logs of the workstation that indicates there is a problem only that the service is showing as running but the window shows "Starting Windows Backup" and just sits there. Let it set there for 8 hours and nothing.
The only software I have loaded are:

    Office 2010 Plus
    Avast! antivirus
    Skype
Java (That one would not load until I restarted in diagnostic mode)
Took defaults on all drivers and utilities but ended up disabling XFast USB utility since it interfered with some of the media cards when inserted in the 40-in-1 reader. Also had to set Internet Explorer has default to get Java to install even after booting up into Diagnostic mode (not safe mode)
    Adobe Reader
Windows 7 Ulitmate with all current patches and fixes
    IE10 but using Chrome
    Logitech Web Cam
    Microsoft SkyDrive
USB Network print driver for network print server on network

    Hope this helps

    Update to this thread.
I was able to get the Windows Backup to work FINALLY!!
Un-installed USBFast that came with the utilities CD with MB. I updated it to the later version and did not make a difference.
So I do not connect any external HDD to the USB ports only cameras, jump drives, and web cams.
Wanted to give you this update so may possibly share with others that are having the same problem or if there is another solution to this.
But uninstalling that USB utility worked for me. All my USB ports still work along with the 40-in-1 reader.

My P67 Extreme6 did that after a fresh install. After checking properties on each drive and clicking on check drive for errors, it would popup a message do you want to dismount this drive, for drive C: D: and E:,
I'm still not sure what he problem is and it has never happened before. I'll let you know what I come up with.

The windows backup works, just always ends with an error at the end..not sure why.

    Event viewer logs this

The backup was not successful. The error is: Windows Backup encountered an error when accessing the remote shared folder. (0x81000039).
    Event ID 4104

Going to continue to research this one.

Hello, I can not help you solve the problem with the tool windows but you should use Macrium Reflect free version. I think it is much more functional backup program included in Windows and will probably be removed in 8.1.

Do you have windows up dates on or windows updated? Under services, have you turned it off(make sure its on in there).

Are any of the backups any/all of you run, for all the drives in the PC, or just the C: drive?

That may be a silly question, but I'm wondering if XFast USB when used with USB connected drives causes the failure of the backup? I've seen software cause issues even after it is uninstalled, as if it changes things we do not have easy or any access to, so the issues remain.

Does the backup fail if it is run just on the C: drive?

XFast USB causes Windows 7 backup to fail. "The creation of a shadow copy has timed out. Try this operation again. (0x81000101)". It blocks the VSS (Volume Shadow Service). I have been chasing this problem for months. Not happy.
Windows 7 Backup is Failing with error 0x81000101
