Default H61MV-ITX motherboard only sees DDR 1600 memory as DDR 1333 Celeron G1620 Ivy Bridge is on the supported list

AsRock H61MV-ITX motherboard (BIOS 1.60 currently the newest one)

Processor: Intel Celeron G1620 2.7 GHz Ivy Bridge

    Memory: GSkill Ripjaws F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL (2 @ 2GB DIMM) DDR3 1600 9-9-9-24 1.5 volt

From the ASRock product page for this MB:
    - 2 x DDR3 DIMM slots
    - Supports DDR3 1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered memory
    **DDR3 1600 with Intel® Ivy Bridge CPU, DDR3 1333 with Intel® Sandy Bridge CPU.

Well I have an Ivy Bridge CPU but the BIOS for this motherboard does not show DDR3 1600 as an option it only goes up to 1333. The memory is seen as DDR3 1333 and works fine at that speed the BIOS also sees it as 7-7-7-21 using the stock 1.5 volts

Can anyone help out here this is the UEFI BIOS at the overclocking tweaks page and I am new to the MB thanks

    Bill

OK I was able to get an answer to this by looking at the Intel site: the Celeron G1620 processor only supports memory speeds up to DDR3 1333

    Thanks everyone.

Those may be the specs for that CPU, but if you checked others, such as an i7-3770K, the top of the line "mainstream" Ivy Bridge processor, it is rated for memory up to 1600:

    ARK | Intel® Core

We know that Intel 7 series chipset boards with an i7-3770K can use memory at speeds well beyond 1600. Even the new Haswell i7-4770K is rated for only 1600 memory. So the CPU specs are not the limiting factor. I run my i5-3570K processor system at 2000, and my i5-4670K system at 2133. It's the mother board that allows the higher memory speeds to be selected, although the memory controller on the CPU, and other factors limit the highest speed you can reach.

Your board is rated to support 1600 memory with Ivy Bridge Processors, which your is. Are you sure there is no other option to set the speed to 1600? Does your memory have XMP profile data, and does the BIOS have an XMP data setting? The specs say it does support XMP.

    ASRock > H61MV-ITX

Did you try the 1.10 version BIOS to see if that makes a difference?

Here are the screen shots from the UEFI BIOS pages. There is no option to pick 1600 speed and there is not option to pick a XMP memory profile

It does not let me select a memory profile either on this motherboard. The Ivy Bridge processors have the memory controller on the CPU itself not in the chipset that is on the motherboard.

I have another ASROCK board with a Richland APU on it and A85X chipset and it gives all sorts of memory clocking options and lets you select a profile too.

The board with this Celeron lets you set memory speed 800 1066 or 1333 only

here is the main page screen It is a brand new board and came with the newest BIOS version already on it.

I believe you about the options you see in the UEFI/BIOS, it just seems strange to me that both the XMP and speed option of 1600 is not available. So it would seem an Ivy Bridge Celeron processor's IMC can't do better than 1333, which is not stated in the ASRock specs.

One thought, on the screenshot of the OC Tweaker screen, where you show the memory speed selections, I see the DRAM Reference clock is set to Auto. Did you try selecting either 100MHz or 133Mz to see if 1600 would appear?

Otherwise, you seem to be stuck at 1333 maximum speed for your memory.
