Default Can't install Windows 8 on boot partition of 2tb

    Hi,

I'm just building a new system and I can't seem to install Windows 8 x64 onto a single 2 tb partition. I have a H81M-HDS mother board with a Seagate Barracuda. Do I need to configure the BIOS to allow this?

    Thanks in advance.

A single 2TB partition, or a single 2TB hard drive?
#1 - Please, when seeking help, enter the make and model of ALL parts that your system is comprised of in your Signature, or at least the model #'s in your System Specs, then "Save' it.

#3 - Please use the eXtreme Outer Vision Power Supply Calculator found HERE to determine if it might be your PSU at issue.

    2TB hard disk. It's a Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 SATA 3...

If I reduce the partition size to 100gb say it works fine but I would prefer a single partition if possible

From the information page for your HDD on an etailers website:

Go beyond 2TB with DiscWizardô software

The sure way to get native access to hard drives bigger than 2TB is to adopt the new BIOS standard called UEFI. If youíre not ready for the new standard, Seagate provides an alternative.

Free DiscWizardô software from Seagate provides you a means to effectively utilize your 3TB and 4TB Seagate Desktop HDDs, even with Windows XP and using the standard PC BIOS. Get your free copy to go beyond 2TB today!

Otherwise, did you format the HDD as MBR or GPT?
