    Default Z77 Extreme6 Win 8.1 Compatibility Issue

    Hello,

As per ASRock website, Z77 Extreme6 is only "Windows 8 Compatible", but even some cheaper and older models like Z77 Extreme3 or H61M-HP4 are "Windows 8.1 Ready". Why is this?

I have downloaded the appropriate drivers for Win 8.1 but I'm still having some issues with my Z77 Extreme6, like LAN driver. And what happened to the THX TruStudio Software? It's now missing from downloads.

    Thanks.

I think ASRock just forgot to change the Windows 8 symbol to Windows 8.1. There are Windows 8.1 drivers listed on your board's download page, as you know, that is all that matters. The driver and software list is shorter than earlier Windows versions, but all ASRock boards have similar short lists.

If the LAN driver for 8.1 on ASRock's site does not work for you, you can try a driver directly from Broadcom. This page will walk you through the process of finding the correct driver:

The THX TruStudio Software is not worth much at all IMO, just one preset equalization applied to the audio output. It's possible there is no version of that software for Windows 8.

Windows 8 is quite different than Windows 7, and has had driver and software issues from its beginning. Smaller companies have not kept up with Windows 8, and many have problems with their drivers and software meant for Windows 8.

The only TruStudio I've ever seen was for Win7 x86/x64 and Vista x86/x64.

Thanks. I already have this and it works fine under Win 8. But in Win 8.1, it gives me BSOD during install. Compatibility Mode doesn't help either.

I had no issue whatsoever with Windows 8... my troubles began after updating to Windows 8.1.

I was hoping for ASRock to solve those issues slowly, but seems like they aren't doing anything about it... I check their website from time to time.

After months of waiting, still ASRock didn't update anything.

I will remember this on my next purchase... back to Asus I guess.

What is it you're looking for them to update?
