Many OEM psu manufacturers provide models that vary from so-so quality to very good or excellent quality.
The only OEM exceptions to this "rule" that I know of are Seasonic and newer models from Super Flower because I'm not aware of any of their power supplies that have average or below average ratings.

Unfortunately there are too many "name brand" power supplies for sale that are junk.

The trouble is you need to do some research to find out who the OEM/ODM is and then read psu reviews from the best psu review sites. I'm comfortable if a specific psu model is reviewed by JonnyGuru, HardOCP, HardwareSecrets, PCPER or TechPowerUp and gets a recommended review.

PSU Review Database | RealHardTechx has an extensive psu database and links to psu reviews for each model at the better review sites. Clicking on the bequiet! link at RealHardTechx shows that most of their power supplies come from FSP, several come from HEC, and three of their high power, top tier psu's come from Seasonic. As of now, XFX is the only psu vendor that I'm aware of the uses Seasonic made power supplies exclusively.
You can also check out PSUs Reviews | TechPowerUp Review Database for psu review links.

From the HardOCP review of the Seasonic G-Series G-550 Power Supply:
    The Bottom Line

The Seasonic G-550 is an excellent power supply that is probably even fighting above its weight class to a degree. As with previous Seasonic offerings of late, this unit did exceptionally well in almost all of our performance metrics. Among these fine performances were truly excellent voltage regulation, excellent DC Output Quality, excellent efficiency, and, to a lesser degree, very good Transient Load Test results. The unit was also extremely quiet and likely a good candidate for quiet cooling environments, even though the fan selected is not as good as those we have seen before in the higher-end Seasonic X-Series. Largely, it was things like the fan selection, the semi-modular nature of this unit, and bad user manual that separated this unit from the X-Series from a user perspective because the actual load testing results would have made those hard to distinguish if you looked at the results without the names attached. As such, this unit also represents an excellent value today at a price point of $86.

    Seasonic G-Series: G-550 Power Supply
I really like HardOCP's 8 hour torture test that is part of their overall review.

    Torture Testing

The final component of our load testing involves our 8 hour torture test. This test is meant to simulate what gaming or hardware enthusiasts might encounter when they use their systems for extended periods of time under stressful conditions such as 3D gaming or long term stability testing and benchmarking. However though, we do not suggest using your power supply at 100% loads for extended periods of time and our torture test does reflect this. We load the PSU being tested to ~80% of its rated capacity for 8 hours at a temperature of 45c. This is outlined in our testing Methodology should you wish to have more information.
***edit*** The Seasonic G-550 power supply has a five year warranty.

Ok, taking a huge risk of jinxing myself here, but I just broke a new record: the longest up-time for my host is now 10 minutes longer than my previous record: 2d,17h,25m!

So... I accidentally rebooted it this morning (thanks, Windows Update!), but at that time it had been up for 4+ days... A marked improvement over previous tests. It had also been running Prime95 all night without a hitch, max CPU temp was 61C and a bit...

The last change I made was to disabled the built in Ethernet and stick a PCI Realtek GigE Ethernet card in... It's been running on that since 4 days! (Remember I noticed early on that the restarts were worse when certain network-utilizing apps (like the SotA pre-alpha) were active? Since I had a bunch of spare NICs anyway, and an unused PCI slot, I decided to just test that hunch, and so far so good!)

Gotta decide on a PSU now, as they'll want the loaner back this weekend... ;)

Check out the price on the Seasonic G-550 power supply.
On my side of the universe......er......pond it's price is similar to the FSP 500 watt psu that you've been testing with.
Check the review at HardOCP and other sites.
XFX might sell a similar model this is based on the G-550 platform.

The attached power information table is from the HardOCP G-550 review and their test results show that the G-550 easily surpassed the claimed specifcations.

The Seasonic X series power supply cables are fully modular and the G-550 has a few permanently attached cables, but this is expected at this price point.

Hmmm... Just found it at a store I'll be close to this weekend, but it is EUR 20 more expensive than the FSP 600W unit I have on loan... This shop isn't known to be the cheapest though, so I am going to shop around a bit!

Thanks for the suggestions along the way, BTW! Much appreciated!

UPDATE: Just found that the shop I got the CoolerMaster from has it EUR 2 cheaper than the other shop... Still EUR 18 more than the FSP one, but I'm going to try and convince them to trade in the CoolerMaster one I got from them... If it works, that will give me a relative discount, because otherwise I wouldn't get anything for it, as - due to the time needed to do the testing - the return grace period has expired by now!

    Wish me luck!

You're welcome, glad to help out.

If you're willing to do a lot of research reading power supply reviews, you should be able to find other excellent power supplies that might be less expensive. I've provided you with my list of the top review sites. There are probably a few other psu review sites that are as thorough and demanding with their psu reviews, but I don't have time to look for more excellent power supply review sites.

A psu with no modular cables should be somewhat less expensive and there might be some highly rated power supplies that only come with a three year warranty. I don't mind spending a bit more for high end psu models because I'm confident that my power supply will be reliable for a long time.

If you find a psu where Super Flower is the OEM/ODM and it is a model that is two years old or newer, give it a good hard look and read its reviews. Super Flower is just about even with Seasonic made power supplies. I think that some NZXT and Kingwin psu models are made by Super Flower. I don't know if Super Flower brand power supplies are available in other parts of the world. They are available in the USA but only under a few other vendors' names.

Does Amazon in Europe sell Rosewill power supplies?
Are Kingwin power supplies sold in Europe?

Check out the Rosewill CAPSTONE-550M Power Supply Review | Hardware Secrets review where its performance was excellent but it got a silver rating due to its price which was too high. In the review, they state that this is a rebranded Super Flower SF-550P14XE model which is also sold as the Kingwin LZG-550.

Well, I just went there, explained the situation in a friendly manner, and the tech agreed that it seemed like an unstable-power issue, and happily agreed to upgrade me (at the cost of the price-difference) to a Seasonic G-550... I'm going to shut down the machine right after I post this, and replace the FSP PSU with my new Seasonic...

The only thing I still have bugging me is that this board won't properly power off or sleep... Guess that is the next thing to look at!... One thing at a time!

UPDATE: PSU is now replaced, and that seems to also have fixed the sleep and poweroff issues!
And that thing is extremely silent too! I am pretty happy overall! Just praying the stability is permanent, and not a fluke...

It must be the magical mystery dust that Seasonic uses when they build their power supplies.
Pretty soon your psu will be the last thing on your mind and that's the way it should be.
