    I just checked the BIOS thoroughly and I couldn't see any way to decrease or increase PCIE frequency. One weird thing I did notice is that the bios appeared to have reverted to the version the board shipped with, not the latest (1.5) that I had flashed. I didn't see a version number, but the old BIOS had limited options for fan speeds on the HW Monitor tab. I reflashed 1.5 and I was able to return to my previous settings. I didn't even think it was possible for BIOS to revert to a previous version on its own. I checked the CMOS battery and it was fully charged (3.3volts).

    The MSI board was a B75MA-P45. As I remember the name of the field was PCIE Latency Timer.
