    Question Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3 freezes with R9 290 Crossfire

    Hi,

I bought two ASUS Radeon R9 290 DirectCU II, and I put these cards into the mainboard (Asrock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3). Firstly, everything seemed to be OK, but it starts to freeze. A new windows was installed, bios was updated, and i dont know what i can do. I tried it with another PSU (i have Corsair TX750, and tried with TX850), it freezes. It freezes in all of PCI-Expess slots randomly. I tried it in another mobo (in Gigabyte Z77-D3H), worked fine.

What is the problem with my motherboard? It always freezes with 0xa0000001 error code. (this is vga driver error, but i tried with 5 amd drivers)

    Thx your answers in advance.

Do you have a direct from the psu 4pin molex plugged into the MB's "SLI / XFIRE Power Connector" that is directly above PCIE 1 slot?

Were I to guess I'd say no.

After reading through THIS Google searches results I'd not so quickly consider the MB as necessarily the problem. It appears you're not alone.

In THIS thread the Users screen pic shows his R9 290 screen that is very very similar if not exact of what you posted here. He details his fix there too so it might be worth trying.
