    Default Is Z97 Extreme9 DOA?

I just received a new Z97 Extreme9 from Newegg. I installed it into the Corsair 650D case and connected the 24 ATX and 2x 8 pin 12V to a Corsair AX1500i. I did not install the CPU or memory--I wanted to make sure that the motherboard powered up before installing anything. After pressing the power button on the motherboard, nothing happened. Should the motherboard have powered up with error messages? Or do I need to install the CPU and memory for the motherboard to power up? Thanks

    Mark

Your board won't do a thing without a CPU at least, which is enough to then throw a memory error. Yes you need a CPU for the board to power up.

Thank you. I dropped the CPU in for a quick power up. Assured that there was life, I added all the other components and it's fully operational. Thanks again.
