Default My pc is muted when starting

Use Windows 8.1. I do not know what happens but I've installed and reinstalled Windows 8.1 several times and always run into this problem. The pc works seemingly well but suddenly, usually to restart, no sound comes out of the speakers. The icon on the Taskbar is usually presented, as well as in Device Manager. However, the error message while performing a sound check in Control Panel audio appears: Failed to run the test tone. Besides the problem of the audio in the Control Panel's System icon Processor and memory items are no longer shown, there is only the message: "Not available".

I've been anti virus but nothing is detected. I have no idea what may be happening. A detail: When I install Windows 7 computer works normally without any of those problems. Only happens with Windows 8.1.

    My PC:

    Phenom II x6 1100T @ 4GHz
    8GB RAM DDR3 1600 GSkill
    ASRock 990Fx Fatal1ty Professional
    SSD Force GT 120GB
    R9 280X 3GB Sapphire
    Windows 8.1 Pro
    Phenom II X6 1100T @ 4 GHz + Corsair H100i --- ASRock 990FX Fatal1ty Professional --- 8 GB (4x2) DDR3 1600 MHz G.SKILL RipjawsX --- AMD HD7870 ASUS DCII 2GB --- ASUS Xonar DG 5.1 --- Corsair Force GT 120GB/ WD Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III --- Corsair Professional Series HX850W Silver --- DVDRW LG SATA --- Cooler Master CM690 II Advanced --- LG IPS236 --- Windows 8.1 Pro x64

I assume you're using the ASUS Xonar DG 5.1 sound card, or something else?

What driver did you install for the ASUS sound card?

ASUS has one Beta driver for Windows 8.1, Version: 8.1.8.1822 beta version, available here: Sound Cards and Digital-to-Analog Converters - Xonar DG - ASUS

Select Windows 8.1 on the page above. Their is a Windows 8 driver available, dated 10/2012.

Your problem is probably related to the driver you have installed for that card, which is?

I don't understand what, "...Processor and memory items are no longer shown, there is only the message: "Not available"." means. Where are you seeing that?
